Costume/Disguise Creator

I know it has been mentioned before and I'm hesitant to even suggest this as better appearance options should have been included in an mmo released in 2014 but I will suggest it anyways.

A costume creator. It's simple and here are the steps.
  • Buy Crowns
    1. Purchase costume slot for 700 crowns. First imprint of the current appearance is free however costs 200 crowns for each subsequent imprint.
    2. It generates your current appearance options as a costume regardless of the actual gear you're wearing that you can select through the collections UI.

The problem I see with this is if ZOS decides to change the styles like they did with the Orc and Redguard styles it could create an uproar (Yes, even over just as little as 200 crowns) however I think the pros outweigh the cons.

Let me know what you think.

I'd much rather have gear recrafting to change styles. Including to lower level styles. And "costume only" styles added to the game.

And then get rid of all those "armor costumes" and have all costumes be "non-combat". And give out costume versiond of all the disguises while removing same from our inventory, to clear space... But that's me...

So you believe that after purchasing the slot you should be able to change it at whim? What would be the point of buying more costume slots down the road? It takes me a lot longer to defecate than it does to make approx. $2.

The reality is that there will be few and far between updates to in-game systems that are appearance oriented that won't require purchase. I'd imagine that weapon/shield dyeing might be a free update at some point down the road however I don't see much beyond that.

They definitely need some kind of comprehensive system for this sort of thing. I don't mind paying crowns for it, I just don't want it to be a tokenized system. So like, I'd be more willing to spend a huge amount of crowns all at once than to need to buy a dozen "Crown Restyling Tokens" every time I feel like changing my armor (which will be often).

The only real economy in the game is the buying, selling, and trading of guild tears.

Because you want more than one costume to pick from.

F.Ex. if I bought a costume slot for my current outfit, I'd want a second slot when I get the Imperial Motif to put together a Stargazer outfit. But I'd want both available to me! Re-printing would be used if, for example, I got a new shade of red closer to what I was looking for for costume #2 and wanted to 'fix' it.

What about spending Crowns for each initial slot and in-game gold for the re-prints? I know I'd hesitate to spend real money if I was worried about the aforementioned dye not matching, and knew I'd need to spend more if I got it wrong, but I'd be more willing to spend it if a slot could be more work-in-progress . (Yes, even just 200 Crowns. Yes, I am cheap, but I guarantee you I'm not the only one!)

Also, we desperately need more gold sinks.

I'm glad you're well off, but that's rather irrelevant to the discussion. :)

That being said, I don't know of any major company that does it this way. Rift, for example: you pay for the unlock, then it's yours to keep! Extra costume slots are big sellers. People had four and were begging for more! Could you point to a specific example of a major MMO charging both for a costume slot and for each change of it?

You don't want to change your costume slot each time as your mood changes. You might want something different in the city, then something different in a raid, then something goofy when you're hanging out... you sorely underestimate people's desire to change costumes! :D

Asking players to pay $2 just because they accidentally picked the wrong pair of shoes is certainly not going to score much goodwill, and will be a total pain for them on tech support/forum support! :D
"It's morally wrong to suggest gameplay changes for an MMO."
...seriously, someone told me that once here. The things people will do to win their internet arguments!

If they wanted to charge crowns to learn gear recrafting I'd even be okay with since it's purely cosmetic.

If you want more custom costumes to choose from at any given time then you need to buy more slots. I figured that was fairly obvious and reasonable.
