How much damage does 5000 resistance mitigate?

I'm assuming the mitigation would be similar for physical or spell resistance. How much damage does say 5000 armor stop if a boss was hitting for 20k?

Thanks!

The conversion rate changes with player level. At V16, you need ~33000 resistance to mitigate 50% damage. Since that is roughly 6.5 times 5000, those would mitigate roughly 7.6% of the damage, or ~1500 damage of the said 20k.

So is that 33000 the theoretical hardcap for armor/spell resist at v16?

That is about 7.5% physical damage mitigation.

Alright, thanks guys. The numbers are a little bit disappointing; I was hoping they'd be higher.

I think this statement just proved my avoidance of using anything to repel damage and focus on increasing it was the right call.

It's actually 650 resistance to migate 1% of the damage, 32500 is hardcap but in pvp you should stack even higher because of debuffs and penetratiton.

I guess light armour since you have 5000 res?

@GoodFella146 , it is actually more disappointing than it seems at first glance. Due to diminished returns, adding armor adds much less benefit if you already are blocking.

    confirmed... it is 650 = 1%

but your question is actually alot harder to answer..

if something hits you for 20K, there are alot more factors at play than just your armor, especially if we are talking pvp.. ie, CP, penetration, skill passives etc. etc.

My point is Don't Count on increasing your armor X will decrease your incoming damage by X% ....

Rule of thumb for me is: if you got hard cap resist/armor. You can get an average of about 30% mitigation without blocking or other forms of mitigation
