Best 5 Piece Heavy Armor for DK?

ZeFeZ
ZeFeZ
What is the best 5 Piece Heavy Armor for a DK combined with a 2 Piece Medium Set?

I'm looking into a Stamina Build with my first bar a 2-Handed Sword and Second Bar a 1 Handed with Shield.

I already got a 2 Handed Agility Sword so was thinking of combining that with the Necklace and also got the agility shield. Mainly looking for a Tanky/DPS Build. I've looked into a few sets so far Black Rose/Hundings Rage/Hist Bark but as I lack experience as a Stamina Build DK I'm looking for overall opinions on what is the best gear to use for that setup?

Thank you!

i prefer 5 hist bark and 4 alessia. my gloves and belt are medium armor the rest is heavy..... but i don't do "dps/tank" i just tank....

the hist bark will save stamina, the increase in physical resistance will compensate fro less blocking/roll dodging, and you take significantly less damage over all.

Would Heavy Hundings Rage work or wouldn't that be tanky enough?

I use hist bark/footman, stamina DK tank, works great. Haven't felt the need to look into the new sets.

Armour Master is very nice for tanking. I am slowly getting to grips with the setup.

I use 5 armour Master 5 footman 2 engine guardian but thinking of changing to 5 armour Master 2 engine guardian 3/2 endurance/willpower or vice versa (not sure yet). Reason this should be better is that with evasion slotted and used I don't need to block as much so don't really need the footman set and I am so far over the hard cap that I no longer need the spell and phys resist so could do with the boost to resources.

Imperium looks nice but I need to get more pieces before trying.

    - 2 pieces Engine Guardian (VR14/VR12 - medium/light)
    - 5 pieces Black Rose (VR16 bought with TV, so impenetrable trait - chest & pants prismatic, other pieces stamina enchanted)
    - 2 Agility rings (one being crap but better than nothing)
    - Agility 1h Axe with precise trait and stamina gain
    - Agility 2h Axe with precise trait and the new glyph that grants 1.4k damage to undead and deadric creatures to give me an even better finisher against vampires ;)
    - Potentates necklace
    - Potentates shield (2 piece bonus for stamina reg)

The reason for using axes is simple, there is no difference between weapon types other than style as long as you don't use dual weild and I found the 1h and 2h axes with perfect traits for like 5k gold each. I upgraded them to golden as the damage gets quite some boost from it.

And I am a vampire. I tried it like Lucy being a werewolf but I just couldn't get used to it.
However I am thinking about dropping vampire, too because I mostly use it for the stealth speed.

Would you think Infused works on a 2-Handed Agility Sword?

I never used one and it depends on the enchantment you are applying to your weapon. I would prefer precise or sharpened instead.

Willows path set with infused / divine, agility jewelry with weapon damage enchants, and dreugh King or shadow walker. This will give you recovery and weapon damage to actually sustain fights. 2H for crit charge to close the gap in 1v1 and DW for steel tornado during 1vX or to uncloak NB's. Use Warrior mundus stone to get more weapon damage.

honestly, call me prejudice if you like, but you can't DPS-tank- either ya tank or ya DPS. there is a lot of flexibility still in ESO, but they have gradually started ruining it. with IC being the most recent changes to negatively impact DPS-tank.... hell they really just turned tanks into vanilla tanks (really *** boring). if you go all stamina, for example, but still wear heavy, you will put out my DPS than i will. however, you will be much weaker than me with respect to health. so one of two things are happening, you are surviving off of sheer damage (not quite tanking), or you are surviving off the healer, (not quite tanking). tanks hold aggro, eat ***, and die. DPS rarely gets to hold the hands with tanking, and be effective at both.

if you think its worth trying however, and i actually find it interesting, my melee DPS set is 5 hundings rage and 3/4 torugs pact- try making those in 5 heavy 2 medium. i have found the sweet spot for mitigations for most grouping situtations seems to be around 24k, after that its just gravy or more for raiding. i think im sitting around 28k physical and 23ish spell. i typically eat it from spell casters, so i plan on testing nirnhoned on shield, since i am pretty sure i can lose the armor. 1k regen seems to be the ticket for my build, and in general the more health and stamina/magicka the better.

i also use s&B/2hand combo. i use swords because of the passive increase to damage. if you are heavy on the melee attacks i would go with mace for the armor penetration passives.

advice: if your tests work solo, get yourself a healer to follow you and advise you how you rate as a tank. they spend a lot of time focusing on the tank, they will be best able to tell you where you are weakest from the third person perspective.

i forgot to mention, a lot of the DPS-tank builds include champion point expenditures, my advice is NOT based on the champions system. its a good system to offset shortfalls, but i think its a large enough time sink (3,600 hours total grind time) and overall weak enough, that its not worth putting high expectations on it. i build my gear off of what i need- the champion system accommodates the weaknesses at the time. for example: i changed to hist bark (5) after IC because my survivability sucked ass. so i (foolishly) upgraded to vr15 hist bark (5) thinking i could get some enchants without IC. i was wrong. so i am using the champion system to offset my shortfalls in stamina and magicka until i can acquire the proper enchants for my build.

ZoS may have wanted to make more diversity and tanking my "fun" but unfortunately based on my tests since launch, they did largely the opposite.

This is not true, 2h weapons have the exact same bonus as dw weapons.

OK, so I have tried soooo many different armor set combinations...

This is my current build and I'm having lots of fun and success in the Imperial City,, with random groups or zergs doing mixed PvE and PvP.

    I'm v16 but my gear is v14.
I have only 56 +/- champion points in each area, DragonKnight, my stat points are health/stamina no magika
champion points = all stamina regen, all physical damage, and all spell resistance

5pc Afflicted = 4 HA, 1 Necklace - 50% chance deal disease damage on hit
5pc Willow's = 2MA, 1HA, sword, shield- regen, regen, regen, and then +15% regen all in combat

second bar= Potentates sword, shield - 2pc gives stamina regen
2 Werewolf v13 rings =only 2 rings gives + resistance (all jewelry has + weapon damage glyphs)

Both swords have Disease damage glyphs. The potentates has +1000 disease damage glyph (came with it)

Total weapon damage is like 1681, health is well over 20k, stamina is about 15-16k, magika is around 9-10k

I'm using the purple tri stat drinks- regen = my stamina regen is 1,800
+ add the green dragon blood and/or potions
+ i mostly use the v5 weapon power potion + stamina, + stamina regen, + weapon power

Use Werewolf when I have support people around.. pounce into group, smash, smash, howl, smash, smash, run out, then repeat... is really fun with multiple Werewolf...

Note* feel free to make recommendations,,,

For PvE, I've been using 5 Armor Master, 5 Footman and 2 Engine Guardian/Bloodspawn. Throw on Immoveable and your close to hardcap for resistances.

For PvP, I've been using 5 Ravager, 5 Hundings/5 Black Rose, 2 Engine Guardian/Bloodspawn. Haven't found for sure what I'm going to use in PvP, but that PvE setup has been working well for the new dungeons. For PvE, I've got my stats both around ~20k though with stamina being slightly higher.

I'm thinking of either 5 Pieces of Hundings Rage with 2 Night Silince and Necklace and weapons of Agilty. Not sure yet thought, also thinking of using Black Rose maybe or Hist Bark?
