PvP is suffering from the "bright shiny object" known as the sewers. It will eventually pick back up, but in the meanwhile, if you want to have a blast doing AvA with 12x12x12 teams head to the Memorial District. There's a running dog fight there pretty much any time of any day in the campaigns I've checked. And it's amazingly fun with even a PUG provided they have TS or some way to coordinate. Blues surge into the red area only to have yellows jump out from the wreckage and lay ultbombs on them. Then the yellow get hit by a wandering boss and the surviving purple menace. My group played for a couple of hours like this last night in Azura's Star/NA and I can't even begin to describe how much fun I had. It's all the craziness of a keep raid without the long "horse simulator" intermissions. Respawn and rejoin with your group takes 10-15 seconds.

As of the last update all campaign population bars show as 1 bar. I think this is a bug considering the mass zergs going around on EU Azura right now despite the campaign still showing 1 bar for each faction.

^This. The population bars don't seem to be accurate. Also, if you're having trouble finding a fight in PVP, as others have said there's a ton of fighting going on in Imperial City sewers and districts.

The game is more alive then ever. Get your head out the sand.

Sorry but this is just inaccurate and misinforming.
    Cyrodiil campaign bars are bugged
If your group is bigger than 6 members gain 75% damage reduction.

Write this on the back of your box and see how many sales you get!

You won't get any new PvP players until this archaic AoE crap is fixed.
I for one won't resub until:
    1.) You fix lag.
2.) You remove AOE caps we voted against.
3.) 12 months have passed (this is how long we've waited for you to 'get with it')[/b]

Because if they were referred to as the "no skill bar" the forums would be a ghost town due to the ridiculous over moderation and total lack of intelligent discretion when enforcing the code of conduct.

Very few people are in the imperial city because they enjoy the content.

The folks I game with are enjoying it a great deal
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

Cyrodiil is more empty than before due to Imperial City release, however it's been getting more populated again in the past couple days so just give it a time.

The cognitive dissonance is strong in this thread. Lets pretend this game is completely healthy so it justifies our purchase decision and time investment.

A healthy game was back before the lighting patch when we had hundreds of players on screen at the same time and more than 10FPS.

My will to play is being slowly reduced by terrible changes, nerfs to the very things that make this game amazing and fun, and the increase of forced grinds.

There are a lot of hardcore PvPers that left this game back when framerates where in the single digits for months. They would come back if PvP got better but this patch has added a ton of PvE to PvP and turned it into a skill-less Zerg fest.

If they remove the champion system, and revert PvP back to 1.5 or early 1.6, I would play a lot more and a lot of PvP'ers would return to the game.

Thank you for being my online shrink and helping me get my feelings out lol. In all seriousness, I have had to watch friend after good friend quit this game, and full 500 member guilds become ghost towns thanks to the neglect, poor QA, and bizzare design changes this game has gone through. The worst has been the addition of the champion system and the continual nerfs and game breaking exploits in PvP.

This game had, and still has amazing potential but its being spread thin trying to please too many people and be too many things.

Now all my favorite gear has been removed because ZOS has a huge power creep problem on their hands due to the champion system and they are nerfing skills, game mechanics, even gear to desperately try to bail water. Everyone has to use the same boring 3 endgame jewelry sets now and grind for weeks to get them. I just want to PvP, not PvE for months to stay competitive.

Its all in this thread laid out more clearly than I could say it.

I will read that. To comment before reading I will say that I think they are doing fine. I guess to continue in the spirit of playing shrink, lets pretend you had one day as shot caller for this game. Tell me 3 things you think need to be fixed. I'm asking in order of priority and with a one or two sentence explanation. Nothing over the top.. 3 examples with a precise reason in this hypothetical scenario. Go!

@icontested I think your little thought experiment is worthy of its own thread.

Here are the three overarching problems and the three specific things I would do to alleviate them.
    1. We need to create a mechanism that allows us to have skills behave differently in PvP and PvE. Other games have this. It's impossible to try to balance two different games simultaneously. The compromises leave both parties dissatisfied. Mechanisms like battle leveling and damage/shield reduction wouldn't be necessary if both aspects of the game could be balanced separately.
    2. We need to find a way to contain the Power Creep caused by the current champion system and removal of softcaps WITHOUT nerfing everything and removing gear from the game. The casualties of the champion system and the price we pay for it is higher than anyone seems to realize. The true price we pay for the champion system detailed Here and it is the real reason for all the recent nerfs.
    3. We need much more gear diversity, especially after this last patch, and a "sanctioned" grinding mechanism that awards some of this gear. The old gear was better than the new gear. Some of us hate questing but grinding doesn't have to be as painful as they make it. A sanctioned grinding mechanism that is faster than random mobs but slower than some of the banned exploit grinds would be perfect.

Here are three simple, actionable, and immediate actions I would implement to address those three issues I just mentioned.
    1. Create a new PvP campaign with no Champion Points, return the original softcaps, and revert all nerfs to late 1.5/early 1.6. There is a thread on it Here and Here.
    2. Create a "Suvival/Speed mode" of DragonStar Arena that scales from V1-V16. Enemies would give the same XP/kill as they currently do but would come in non-stop waves. You could play as long as you wanted then jump in a portal if you were done. This arena would have NO silly floor traps, NO loud annoying announcers, and NO long breaks and pauses. The XP gain rate in DSA was almost good enough but there are too many times where you are just sitting there waiting for the announcer to say something stupid and time consuming. This would kill the dead time and make it a good grind while technically still being official content.
    3. Bring back the everyone's favorite gear and endgame content immediately. Update Trials to V16, dropping the ORIGINAL trial sets WITH JEWELRY, update the Elite Gear Merchant in Outer Cyrodill to all the original PvP gear in V16 WITH jewelry, and update DSA to V16 with V15/16 Masters weapons.

I find some of the negative comments funny. My guild is having a blast with the PVP. Sometimes small group of 6 and fight off full bomb groups in the servers do to the npc mobs and the architecture. Up top in the districts it is great you see large 20+ v 20+ v20+ fights going on along with smaller 2v2 fights. You never know if all of a sudden the sweeper boss will show up and a fight that looked lost is all of a sudden a rousing victory.
Magic is impressive but now Minsc leads SWORDS FOR EVERYONE!!

PvP is suffering from the "bright shiny object" known as the sewers. It will eventually pick back up...
Thing is, I'm not really sure it will. Imperial City split the PVP community across the board, and thinned out the already thin PVP playerbase. But it didn't just thin the population, it also devalued AP -- something that could be worth far, far more than the Tel Vars are. I run with a *lot* of PVPers, and I'm a part of Fifth Element (a small PVP guild, but we used to sort of be Thornblade's first and last line of defense for the longest time).

AP is near worthless. Since the PVP vendor bags don't scale to VR16, AP has lost incredible value. PVPers used AP to grab the vendor bags to help fund PVP (which can be really, REALLY expensive). Wall repair kits, potions and siege rack up quite a hefty bill for serious PVPers, and the AP costs for those items is far too high, thus most used gold. Again, reward bags made the bank most needed to carry on their battles. Draw a Shadow Walker ring? Bam! Flip it for 125K! That's pay dirt and war money.

    You can't do that now.

The Rewards for the Worthy are the only real chance for anything of value, and even then I'm not really seeing much draw for them (that, and the chances of getting a set item of any value seems to be rather low). So this leaves the diehard PVPers to have to grind, and the only place to grind... is down in IC.

The Tel Vars, for all the hassle it takes to get them, really aren't worth that much. There's value to items from the TV bags, sure, but it's not quite the same. I'd rather be PVPing, and losing Tel Var stones during battle doesn't help pay for things. But people really aren't running out to buy Helm of the Rose and Shieldbreaker gear. At first, sure, but that train came and went right after IC's launch. VR15 gear is "good enough" for most people, and paying for VR16 isn't quite up to what most people want to pony out. You can't even get items worth a crap from treasure chests or maps. The entire loot system has becoming boring, blame and uninspiring. Every single VR15/16 drop is worth almost nothing else for 1 ingot, leather, cloth or wood.

As it stands, the economy of Cyrodiil was wrecked, and most PVPers have had to resort to sewer raids, but... it's not the same. The incentives for PVP have been removed. It's fine for some, and there are some fights around Cyrodiil... but it's not quite the same as it once was. Until the Cyrodiilic economy is fixed and actual incentive to PVP is brought back PVP is going to continue to suffer.

Most of my guild WANTS to PVP, but we're having trouble finding the fight... because everyone is too broke /to/ fight. Yeah, we can still make gold, but it's not quite the same and requires far, FAR more effort with no promise of payout. I really, REALLY just don't want to have to grind 100 Rubedite Ingots to throw up on the store to get cash. I'd rather just be fighting and taking keeps.

TL;DR - The PVP economy is ruined. The entire endgame item economy exists around Agility, Willpower and Endurance -- nothing else -- and the lack of set drops from chests and enemies has massacred diversity. PVPers want to fight, but their methods to make PVP profitable to support their habit has been cut off.
