Why does clannfear RANDOMLY pull things for no reason?

Seriously, does this happen to anyone else? Half of the time I'm standing there waiting for the team to come so I can kill a boss, and the clannfear runs up and just PULLS IT. WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!?!?!!??!?!!@"?

My favorite was the time I stopped to look at a map, and my clannfear wandered off and started fighting mobs with another player!

At least mine has never aided a criminal in town- that was in another thread not too long ago.

In defense of the poor, misunderstand Clanfear, I've seen players complain about that on a number of occasions when they blindly walked through (or near) an aggroing mob and the Clanfear valiantly leapt to their defense to intercept the incoming mob.

If the Clanfear is "aggroing the boss", you might want to double check how close you're standing to aggro range yourself and whether the Disciple of Leroy is not in fact sitting at the keyboard.

When I'm nearly a mile off and it randomly just takes off running towards it, there is no way on God's green earth I agro'ed the boss.

Although I'm not using the Daedras anymore, I still think it really would be better that they ONLY start fighting when you (the player who casted them) is actually in combat.

I remember last year when a friend of mine (she was AD, I was EP) were trying to explore a bit of Cyrodiil together, side by side as enemies (no PvP)^^ Bad thing was that at that time I was still using my Daedras. We saw enemy NPCs from far, and out of habit, I summoned the Daedras to prepare for combat, but the Daedras started to attack my friend lol .. I had to unsummon them immediately to safe her^^
I guess they start attacking when an enemy is somewhere in sight, even when there's no combat going yet. That's not good..

I wish I had this problem! My Clannfear never attacks anything until I attack first, which is highly inconvenient when I have to draw aggro in order for my Clannfear to do his thing! I'm too squishy to be drawing aggro.

You know there's a command for your summoned pets to attack right? I rarely use it myself, but I've got one low-level archer sorcerer character who uses it to send her clannfear into combat, then drops an arrow barrage on the mobs who are busy fighting the clannfear.

LOL to this whole thread. I love my Clannfear. Yes he runs off and starts fights sometimes, and yes he aggros mobs and bosses at inconvenient times, but he's my own personal tank. I'm never truly soloing when he's around. And sometimes he's a welcome 5th member of a 4-person group. Once in awhile he seems to get lost in his own little world and kind of stops in his tracks, but that's not too often.

Yup all the time or my winged Twlight decides that rather than attack the mob within range its going to fly through ever mob in the sewers to attack the one I was fighting from behind, brining every mob that it could find with it. The amazing thing is this thing dies on one hit but some how manages to survive long enough to get back to me doing this just in time to die.

Just wish the pets were good enough to warrant their mob pulling ability.

Having never used pets myself, I always assumed that's how they worked. Wow, if not, then no wonder people hate using them. A pet should NEVER agrro or draw aggro on on something that isn't already aggroed on the player or that the player hasn't directed them to attack. If they just randomly attack stuff, that must make them a huge liability (especially if they then draw aggro to the player, and not just themselves).

See http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/comment/2240325#Comment_2240325 (the What the Hell thread) for more clannfear awesomeness.

The aggro range seems to be turned up super high for these little guys, but I sure do miss mine when he vanishes.
