[Data Mining] Japanese Localization is coming

In the patch 2.1.7 I've found files for Japanese localization. They are empty now, but anyway it's a good sign for players from Japan.

So that's where all the money is being pumped into...

Asian market advertising and client changes :P

Just in case you forgot, the game still has a broken looking for group tool, crashes, fps drops and crazy long loading screens with an unbalanced champion system...

    Cheers.

    Well here is the breakdown....

As we all know there is a HUGE and I do mean H-U-G-E!shifteleventy. MMO market in Asia period.

Neverwinter launched for the xbox one in November of last year in Japan. US was left waiting until April? to see it. "Kinda shocked me as Xbox being Microsoft but wudyagonado?

Sense then Neverwinter has boasted proudly that they have a player base of 2 million on console..*That being only the xbox alone as it is not out on PS4 yet*

With that being said why wouldn't you push for that market? I also strongly believe as some have pointed out that it is no cooweekideenk :p that two weeks after NW went into open beta on xbox ESO without no warning announced released date of june. If you do not think the stock holders for ZOS raised an eyebrow and pushed things along because of NW you are kidding yourselves.

I just want ESO's numbers to be like NeverWinters. I honestly do.

I don't actually know if Zenimax sells stock (I would assume so by the number of investors), but it's a privately held company. The F2P market has a totally different market potential because there's no initial buy-in. I don't doubt the Asian F2P market's strength, especially with South Korea. But let's not get hasty with the generalization here. Perfect World could market just about anything.

Their back end can't even handle the players they have now....a lot of issues going back to last year have still not been fixed...

Adding "millions", which I doubt, more players would just make those issues worse...

Well as long as they get the initial Cash influx from the Asian market why should they care about future issues like stability or game code. Have they cared to date ? Nope cash grab and oh well you cant get your money back. Such is the new model.

PvP unplayable at peak times, laggy unresponsive skills sometimes, bugs on everything from gear to skills, broken looking for group tool, fps drops, crazy long loading screens, client crashes, lacking UI especially when it comes to inventory management and guild stores, I mean there is a list that goes on and on of issues that never get addressed, some going back to 2014 and some since the IC update..

ZOS must really have some money to burn here. This is a dangerous foray into a very very hard market to crack. They have lots and lots of their own MMO's out there, and western ones do not tend to do well there at all.

    An odd choice.

None of that comes from official ESO sources. Data mining is unreliable at best.

Interesting translation from google... although I would tend to translate the meaning thuswise:

"Is that so? That's good. [The middle sentence contains no subject so it isn't certain who should be studying Japanese language more]. I hadn't heard that Japanese people like elder scrolls so much."

Although, my Japanese is still a work in progress. I have only lived here for a year so far.

Are they getting JP voice acting though!?

I suppose. They will probably lip sync the whole game to the Japanese dialog to get that Godzilla feel where the actor's mouth moves for 10 seconds but he says "Yes".

They will be in an entirely different hosting environment based somewhere in Japan. I doubt it will be anything like what exists in Frankfurt, which, as near as I can tell from the forums, uses carrier pigeons as the ISP.

You know that neither ZOS nor Bethesda will be forthcoming with information until the whole world already knows. If they could ship the product and have people buy it without having to mention it, they would totally do it that way.

That said, their Japanese partner spilled the beans at Tokyo Game Show 2015.

    I was referring to myself. Perhaps that is one of those moments where the subject ought to be explicit. I am still just learning as well. ^^;

Well, this explains where are the programming and hardware resources are going at ZOS and why the bugs are not being fixed.

I want ZOS to succeed so that this game succeeds. It is a proven fact that it costs 10x less to keep a customer than it does to get them back once they leave. Given the "chatter" I am hearing and reading, player frustration is mounting and that is bad for business. ZOS may gain Asia while losing market share in the ROW. As ZOS is probably managed by pretty smart people I am sure that this calculation has already been made and accepted - time will test the wisdom of the path.

This news makes me pessimistic for any near term solutions to the aggravating problems of long load screens, FPS drop, and game crashes. ZOS may be too busy expanding to pay attention to the customers they already have. Some businesses do not survive that decision paradigm.
