VR Ranks and Champion points blow

Even after IC, leveling VR is still such a pain and hassle. Champion points have to honestly be the dumbest system around. People like me that work full time and have a life will never get on that nerd level with a *** ton of champion points. Reaching max level will take me years at this rate, questing got boring before the first veteran rank. Champion points get people demolished in PVP, even with battle leveling. Does this garbage ever plan on being removed and if so, when?

I'm sure I'll get flamed for saying it, but that's fine, I like it hot...

I for one am someone who likes the fact that people like you who dont play as often are not on par with those who play more.

In the MMO world (imo) there should still be benefits for investing more time then the other guy.

You can grind your daily enlightened point in like 20 minutes.

So you can easy get 1 a day.

Enlightenment stacks for 12 days. So say you get 3 hours on a a Saturday, you could easilly bang out 7 cp

You can go up over quarter of a level in two hours. I usually do about a third when I want to.

Sadly a lot of us tried to make ZO$ understand the error in the broken CP system... I have simply gave up as there is no plan to remove them.

Best thing you can hope for is a CP free campaign. They have mentioned they would by adding campaigns that do not allow CP's, but I think it was rolled back to be included in the Spellcrafting patch which is rumored to be right after the warden class is released....

I don't mind the system as it stands, so long as the person who has 500 CP actually earned them. Will I ever reach that high? Nope. But I'm also not going to begrudge the guy that grinded it out for 100 hours.

Getting VR levels in Cryodiil is easy. Do just 1 series of the town quests, (12-14 quests) in about an hour and you'll have a third of a level.

If you think they will be removing the Champion system after just releasing it, you're delusional. Vet ranks may be removed, soon (tm), but not at least until after Orsinium is released.

Lol, I love this excuse....I also have a career, life and family. That's just rude and condescending and has no merit as to why you actually don't compete. More likely it's that you spend more time frustrated and complaining than playing the game or learning to play the game. Although CP make some difference, it will never make up for player ability.

I like the champion system, even though I am only in the middle field when it comes to c-points. Its after all not a system designed to be maxed, but a system designed to provide continous growth over a long time, with the nice "ding, I got better" feel whenever you earn a point (though diminishing returns mean the points you earn are less and less effective in the long run...)
The enlightment stacking means people who work during the week and then play, say, half a day on the weekends can easily average their common "1 cp per day" gains. (now don't we wish riding lessions used the same system? )

And those who are persistent and keep at it, Will eventually get to the point where thanks to diminishing returns they can measure up in PvP. Yeah, 10 c-points vs. 300 c-points is no contest at equal skills and gear. 310 c-points to 600 on the other hand... much, much closer. So what if you need five blows to kill him and he only needs 4.2 blows to do you in? Once you are that close in effect, whoever lands that fifth blow will be the winner...

And yes, you will never ever "catch up" to those who spend more time on ESO. At best, you will get "close enough" as outlined above. This is as it should be after all! More time spent on it means more effect for it.

Veteran ranks... are not really all that much of a big deal. Besides, recently they lowered the XP needed for them, again, and increased the payouts of a lot of the veteran stuff... to the extent that you'll be overlevel through cadwells without even trying... and in any case, eventually they will be phased out (if they ever get all the issues of their champion system - final phase worked out)
You whippersnappers have no idea how good you have it today! When I first reached veteran ranks, it was 1400000 XP per rank! We had to quest uphill both ways to earn our ranks, through the freewing snow of eastmarch, under the sweltering sun of the alik'r, loosing our boots to the swamp in shadowfen and fedning off the mobs with only one hand since we needed the other to clear a path through the overgrown vegetation of the velenwood! Now gerroff mah lawn! ;)

I really enjoyed this game until veteran ranks. Takes so long to level and its ***. I'm only VR4 and it takes forever. Questing gets old really quick. Impossible on PS4 to even find a group for veteran dungeons. The amount it takes for one level is just insane and way too time consuming. Why can't it beile majority of MMOs, with the ability to get better gear than others by means of standings. Pvp, dungeons..ect rather than people who stock up on CP to be overpowered. How will PVP ever be balanced enough that at max level you have a standing chance. The game was so much more fun before VR. actually had a chance to break the top 10 in Cyrodiil without being on 5+ hours a day. How high were they when they thought of this? Pass it my way I wanna get to that *** point.

OMG, Players like you would of never lasted a day in the older MMO like Everquest. Go play a sp game and leave the MMO up to players that know how they work. So many of you cry and whine saying i'm not as good as you that's not fair. Do you freaking realize that in a MMO you might NEVER be good as me. It's the truth, and if you don't like it leave. Dam I'm sick of these post. Zen please do not make this game any easier. Make it harder like the old days of EQ.

I work etc only play from 11 pm to 1 am. I only have like 40 CP, have only died to one 1v3 edit: since update. It is far more level than it was, CP points make only a difference when its way one sided, which is rare on console.

I would say its not the systems fault. I can bet when my vet 5 kills a vet 12 they will chalk it up to CP when they unknowingly have far more CPs than I do.

In the MMO world (imo) there should still be benefits for investing more time then the other guy.

I agree, mmo's all work like this, the people that have played and put hundreds of hours of time in should see a benefit, they should be rewarded, hell 20% isn't a massive advantage in stats compared to many other MMOs.

OP I have a full time job, a partner I must spend time with, still manage social activity and time to work on and modify and maintain 4 cars.

I've been playing since just after console release, have 3 vet 7s, and 3 level 30-40 dedicated to bwb pvp.

I had 30 CP last week, as I hardly played the vets, and started working on one of them recently, I earned 30 CP last week in just over a day (12 days of enlightenment banked)

Without enlightenment I average 3 an hour in a good grind spot with an xp potion (many guilds will give their members several a week for free, or as little as 5k gold for a stack)

It's really not that bad..I think people moan about it because they spend 2 hours of their 3 hour playtime sitting in zones doing nothing.
Before you log on, decide what you want to do for the session, decide the best way to reach that goal, and as soon as you're logged on proceed to follow that plan. You'll make much more progress.

^^ lol afraid that if it's easier to level and minus CP you might have a challenge against anyone that comes up to you? How it should be. Shouldn't take hours upon hours for ONE VR level. That's just absurd.

So a person who plays 8 hours a day must be on par with a person who plays 2 hours a day...mmmmmk

I also want to work 2 hours in my job and earn the same as working 40 hours a week. Can we please fix this?

Just because there is additional character customisation for those that reach max level doesnt mean its broken. Loads of games have used similar systems, there is nothing broken about it. But seriously?? Why would people complain about additional customisation anyway? its an mmo.. Customisation is what defines an MMO.. People shouldnt be denied the options to further the strength of their characters just because some think everyone should be equal just because they cant be screwed to put in as much time and effort..

If you worry that someone is stronger than you then don't play an MMO, its not the right type of game for you. I am as casual as they come but I have NEVER had any issues with gaining CP's. Lazy and Casual are two completely different things.

Could not agree more. I KNOW i will never be the strongest in the game. But I will be stronger than other people.. But then someone will get stronger than me who was weaker than I was last week. That is the whole point of an MMO. It is an arms race..

I would never have even picked the game up if the max level was just 50 and there was no other additional ways of strengthening my character. It rewards the people that stick with the game the longest and that have dedicated the most time and effort. I am flabagasted that people would even disagree with that idea, surely that is only fair.

When "you" (people in general) finally reach that mark and are able to start earning champion points you would be glad the system was there, why would I waste my time playing a game at all if the hours I put into the game were for nothing. Because "that guy over there" who only plays 1 day a week thinks that he should be equal..

    I could go on forever..

CP are great, gives you way more freedom in building your class. though have to admit that indeed for new players it must be a hell. i'm currently at 210 CP and didn't rlly grind for them.

But here's an idea @ZOS_GinaBruno. How about adding up the exp that people obtain pre-vet rank and give them CP once they hit vr. Give people 400% (just like enlightened) constantlly up to 150 cp, 200% up to 300 cp. and from 300 cp the usual experience requirements to rank up. only question would be.. do these people get enlightened or not? :P

Were you there when there was no champion point system, it helped this game a ton. Btw, they have said they do catch-up system, but dont just expect they give it all to you freely, you need to work. I personally think 2 month of good 8 hour per day playing should be sufficient to reach the top, it should be good test if you got it or not.

i can understand the OP. because i thought the same from what i had read and my experiences, even suggested reducing the scaling on the CP system as one of my first few forum posts. but views change with time and experience.

battle leveling is terrible. it actually handi-caps my VR12 character in blue gear. So really isn't doing you enough of a favor giving you nice health but crap damage and regen to face off a VR14-VR16 in purple or gold gear.

don't get hung up on CP. its not the culprit here. its VRs and not making good quality gear and enchants before reaching the level cap because of the "wasting" of important resources.

The CP system rewards mindless grinding rather than actual skill intensive play.

Player A: Does vet dungeons, Trials, PVP, trading, and all of the other core elements of the game.

Player B: Kills the same powerless zombies in the same spot over and over.

Player B gets more powerful than Player A.

Player A could even be playing the game more, but isn't as rewarded as Player B.
    Rest in Peace:
    The Dragonknight
    2014-2025

This commemoration is for the class that has constantly been plundered and dismantled by designers for no obvious reason while other classes continue to have coherent skill lines and feel both powerful and cool.
  • clay3am513
Yes, someone who puts forth more effort should have more reward. However, this is still a computer game, and it's actually meant to get you away from real life for a bit, I don't think it's supposed to replace it, like it probably does for quite a lot of people. The problem with allowing certain groups of people to be miles ahead of other with no chance of catching up, is less people will continue to play. That's not good for anyone. There shouldn't be a point in a game this day in age, where a completely new player feels they have no chance of ever being on par.
