I finally made a friend of mine buy ESO, and after 5 hours of playing together I noticed that he was always in/out of a dungeon before me. But it really hit me when he wasn't waiting infront of the door for once and ran to the frickin wayshrine (which was like 30 seconds away if you sprinted all the way). The best part though, I'm running the game off of a SSD, while he's running it off of a HDD.
So I tried making a new character, and as I thought, max 10 seconds to load in/out of zones (up to 2 minutes with my VR6 character).

✭I think it's more related to character levels. My main is VR16 and gets ~90 seconds loading screens. But my bank toons, who are just level 3-8, get the usual ~30 seconds. All of them were created far before IC.Edited by Arkadius on September 22, 2015 2:29PM4 -

UndeadBlood✭✭✭The "Characters made before the IC update" part might be wrong and it actually might be just your character level. I didn't think about that, since I don't have any low level characters from before the update.

With the Update 7, especially on PS4 we notice two things:
- loading screens take much longer now with vet characters
- blue screen crashes are almost gone now
The theory: A lot of calculations that did happen in the open world before (until Update 6) now may have been deffered to the loading screens (in Update 7). Such "preload calculations" can reduce the required computing power later and probably the crashes.
Remember the massive stutter problems Skyrim had on PS3 when savegames grew beyond 10 GB? Bethesda had to find a way in Sykrim to reduce the ingame calculation load.
With ESO, the former crashing on consoles may also have happenend because the consoles are too slow to do all world calculations in time. The longer you play a character, the more you change the world and your character, and the more ESO has to adjust. The devs probably decided that it is safer now to do such adjustment calculations during the loading screens before the actual gameplay starts. I did originally have a theory it was something to do with broken textures, but lately I noticed that my higher level characters loaded slower than my low level characters, so I decided to speed grind them up the levels to see what was happening, lo and behold the higher level they got the slower they began to load.1 -

corrosivechains✭✭✭✭✭Wish this were the case for me but honestly even just the loading screen logging into the game takes entirely too long. When it takes upward 5-10 minutes just to get to my character select screen, I'm inclined to believe it's not a character issue. Kinda debating reinstalling the game now, though, if only the game weren't such a big download

✭✭✭✭✭I do not think that before-after the IC update makes any difference.
In daily playing three low VR level PC NA characters, I can say that none of them have loading screen issues. All three spend time in Craglorn, but I do wayshrine to other places. No Cyrodiil on these three... not even an assigned Campaign.
After reading everything people have said about loading screens, I attribute this to clean living; no wild women or booze and regular church attendance. Oh, and fast processor, SSD, and staying out of Cyrodiil.

✭✭✭✭Sorry OP, but this isn't true for me at all. All of my characters were made before the IC patch dropped, they range in level from 10-VR2. I have the exact opposite of this issue, where before the patch I was getting awful loading screen time and now the game loads much faster. And not just when zoning or recalling or things like that, but NPCs and building interiors are loading much faster for me.

NA PC, and will say I didn't have this problem until the 2.1.5 patch.
