If you're on Windows 10, you can use Game DVR to record. It's part of the Xbox app. You might need to setup and/or sign in on a Xbox account to activate it, but it works perfectly.
It's free with the OS and I'm loving it so far! Files are far smaller than FRAPS videos, doesn't seem to affect game performance at all and it's automatically enabled when you boot the game. You just need to hit a hotkey and it'll start recording. You can even have it automatically keep the last 30 seconds (up to 10 minutes) recorded at all times in case something comes up and you want to catch it on video.
37 minutes of 1080p video is taking 4.46 GB instead of FRAPS's raw video which is taking the same for less than a minute.
I always use the Nvidia shadowplay which comes with the Geforce experience software (available for any recent nvidia graphic card).
It has virtually no impac on CPU or GPU performances but a small delay when launching the record.
U have to enable desktop recording however to record ESO gameplays.

Nvidia recently updated the Shadowplay functionality so you can now stream your games to a friend over wi-fi and have them control the game for you.
