Voice Chat Has Never Worked

I've owned the game now for over 2 months and have never been able to voice chat. It always just tells me 'Voice chat is unavailable.' My NAT type is open, I've got all the Zenimax suggested additional ports open, I've reinstalled the game, talked to Xbox support, and just to cover my bases had them ship me a new headset. Still same result: Voice Chat Unavailable.
Is there something I'm missing? Some crucial secret to unlocking interaction with my fellow ESO players? I'm starting to get a wee bit frustrated, please help me out!

A friend of mine has this exact same issue, it's worked for him twice for a few minutes since release. Killed PVP for him since he can't communicate with the group. He's tried the support route with no success.

It really is a pain. I'm pretty much stuck doing the main quest. I feel like I'm only getting a sample of the ESO experience. Very disappointing.

No solution yet. I've got a ticket for help, just waiting for a response...
    and waiting...and waiting.

is it our connection thats causing this? or their voice chat just doesn't work?

Not sure... I just know that I've tried most of the fixes they've suggested with no results.

    How old is your router?

When I got Xbox one last year it had quite a few general connectivity issues. My ISP gave me a new one, updated model with better wifi and updated capabilities and there were no more issues. I also have very few issues with ESO.

Our router is about a year old, but that's maybe an idea I can look into.

Somewhere on xbox.com there is a list of known router issues and solutions. Within it is also a list of routers that have compatibility issues.

Another note is that if your router is capable of it, give your Xbox one a static IP. this would make sure that another device isn't taking that IP and your settings for it.

Okay, so I gotten a chance to look at xbox.com's router issue list and the listing for our particular router only says it might disconnect you. I haven't had that problem. So I'm at least good to go on that front. My NAT has thankfully always been OPEN on the Xbox so I've never had any problems with that either.

I have now also set up a static IP address for my XBOX, unfortunately that still hasn't solved the voice chat problem.

On a side note: Thanks for all your help CapnPhoton! It may not have helped me this round, but it may help others. You've given me more time and assistance than ZoS has.

Mine worked for the first time ever yesterday, for about 20 minutes. Have had all ports open on xbox since release. Every other game chat has been perfectly fine, just ESO.

I think they don't have enough servers to facilitate voice chat so they start kicking people out of it.
