Stealing and Sneaking

Ok I have to ask because I see this almost all the time and it makes me laugh. Is there any benefit to sneaking when you steal something? This is the situation: I have a place that I can steal quite a few items with no guards or anyone to bother me. I often see other players come in sneaking and sneak to all the cabinets, chests, etc... to steal. Why?

I just run from one to the other which is much faster in this safe environment.

    It's just to make sure there are no NPCs around. Somebody doesn't want to take the risk of there possibly being someone around and getting a bounty, even if there is nobody around. Better safe than sorry.

    I used to, but then stopped once I no longer needed to steal there because Rawl'kha tavern is over 9000 times better a place to rob!

    When you are sneaking you get an icon that tells you if someone can see you or not. If you are visable (or "detected") you dont want to seal it or you will be witnessed. If you are "Hidden" steal away, noone is looking!

    Thats why people sneak when stealing.

    The point of sneaking while stealing is that the "hidden" indicator will tell you if someone is looking at you. If you find stealables where noone is around to watch you (there are some places...) then you need not sneak.

    You can go anytime you wish actually. The way to Reaper's March without traveling to a friend or guildmate is to go to Grahtwood from Skywatch in Auridon, then to Malabal Tor via the northwest exit in Grahtwood that leads north, and then travel along the eastern side of Malabal Tor until you get to Baandari Trading Post and the gate to Reaper's March is in that little town place.

    You sir are way too informative! I'm going to mosey on up that way with my crafter the next time that I log in. I want to level up all of my crafting skills ASAP so that I can do a skill reset and redistribute some of those skill points back into more useful slots.

    Off topic - love the username. We've probably had this conversation, but is the name based on Ultima Online?
