Then comes the fishing time - probably at least an hour on average to get each Perfect Roe.
I get perfect roe faster than I get blue colored fish. :expressionless:

I have 5 or 6 perfect roe in the bank.

Not counting the starter island rares, I have 2 blues caught.

Total time fishing is definitely less than 2 hours. I only started fishing two weeks ago.

Not sure if this matters, but I have Provisioning at 50 and food passives maxed.

I'm also pretty sure my roes came from fishing rivers. I don't recall any other water source producing them.

I've completed two factions (w/starters) and Craig - so I've skinned a fair number of fish. One thing I've noticed is that the roe appearance seems to be more bursty than might be expected from a purely even distribution. A number of times I've had three roe in less than 100 fish, and also gone more than 600 fish with none. But overall, it seems to be about 1/100 fish. It's also worth noting that ZOS could change that without notice at any time.

Also, my "at least an hour on average" may be a biased a little on the long side because I'm going for the fishing achievements, which means I'm picking my water types and moving around to get them (staying within a zone), and so generally being less efficient than if one only cared about going anywhere and getting any old fish to skin.

I believe the reason Roe is hard to sell is on account of few things.
    • The number of users has gone down, especially with IC release and gear grinding becoming a top priority
    • The market was flooded with Roe when XP drinks were first introduced
    • The current price is incredibly accessible for most players to have built up a personal stock
    • With any decent farm spot, anyone can get 200 fish easily in less than 1 hour (I have a 0-5 drop rate from a full stack)

Players who fished before the update (and saved them),likely had thousands to skin when XP drinks were added. I know I had around 8k and a lot of fishing buddies had 10k+ even before the XP drinks were announced.

About the loading screen issue, I doubt that really effects it at all. Most people drink the pots when they plan on earning a lot of XP, so it just doesn't make sense to be spending most of that time traveling. You essentially waste half of the pot by doing so.

Or you're like me and belong to one or more guilds where people freely exchange mats and gear and happily make potions for free for those who don't have it unlocked yet.
