N: Necessities: Bring health potions to keep yourself alive when the healer is absent or out of magika. You can not always rely on the healer. You can always rely on yourself. Make sure to have potions at your level. No reason a Vet 5 character should be using Level 45 potions. The higher the level potion, the more health.
U: Understanding: Know your enemy. What are their weaknesses? Fire, shock, possession? This is a huge difference in the amount of DPS you will deal.Should you be prepared to deal with some extra adds (Necro? Bone Lord?), does this enemy have a quick heavy that can knock you out before you know what happened? Knowing is half the battle. The other half is execution. The next 10% is remember the name.
S: Stamina: Put all your points into Stamina. That not only lets you attack more but increases your base damage. Stamina is superior to Magika in terms of DPS.
This is the A.N.U.S strategy.

Let me add:
P: Penetration: All mobs received additional armor and spell resistance. After extensive testing, weapons with the Penetration Trait are more effective. Nirnhoned can also be used for superior Spell Penetration.
L: Light Attacks: Light attacks weaved into your heavier attacks not only increases your DPS but ensures your Ultimates are available more often.
U: Ultimates: I always recommend both an offensive and defensive Ultimate. Just for slotting Flawless Dawnbreaker from the fighters guild skill line, it increases your damage by 8%. As an defensive ultimate I recommend one which heals you such as Replenishing Barrier or a class ultimate for heal, shield, or escape.
G: Gear: Make sure you are getting the most out of your gear. 5 PC Medium is a necessity for every Stamina DPS but slot a heavy and light of each other armor types for the passives in not only the Armor trees but also the undaunted Passives!
This is the P.L.U.G guide.
