Solo player - Questions

I haven't played since a few months after launch.

- Which classes and builds can solo the most content?
- Was an option ever added to turn off scaling content (dungeons) to allow lower level dungeons to remain lower leveled?
- How much content, if any, has been added within the last year, and how much of it is soloable?
- Is any of the max level group content soloable? I know at launch some of the dungeons could be solo'd by people using resto/destro staves.

- Also on an unrelated note to soloing, is crafting research account wide? I only ever had one character and I did a lot of crafting, I had like all but one trait on medium and heavy armor, as well as all but one trait on five or six different weapons. If and when I come back I wanted to start over, but that research took a really long time at launch and I was curious if I needed to go through that again?

Thanks

    1. Probably Magicka Templar, Magicka Sorcerer, Stamina DK
    2. No
    3. Only IC has been added over the last year and it can be soloed although requires a significant understanding of your class/playstyle.
    4. Yes, see note 3. Delves mostly
    5. No. researching is required for each character on your account.

    Q: why u no group?

HERE is an example of a magicka sorc solo build.

Because I dislike standing around waiting for pugs to form/waiting for other players to get places, trying to convince people to take me, or doing things on other people's schedule. Or vice versa other people waiting on me, trying to convince me to take them, or them playing on my schedule.

I like to just log in and do stuff on a whim.

Does this game have dungeon queues yet? If not I don't see myself grouping much.

    1. Any class.
    2. No
    3. Depends on when you left. I would guess upper Craglorn and IC. Craglorn and IC are both recommended duo or group. Solo CAN be done, but, frankly, not a good idea unless you are an exceptional player. Being gone a year, you most likely are "out of sync"..
    4. No. Designed for four or more. Again, exceptional players claim to solo. But those are the 1% of the upper 1%. If you think you are that good..

    Crafting is character only.

Why don't I have 300+ skill points? Because you skipped content along the way.
    Where is new content? Sigh.

Yes it has a group finder option for dungeons, which is slow but somewhat works. You're not going to be soloing any of the IC dungeons, White Gold Tower is easily the hardest group dungeon in the game now.

If you like to solo and want to find groups quick then I'd recommend magicka templar.

For groups, you can go magicka/health and with a change of gear go from being a tank to a healer to a dps without losing anything - which means you can queue for all 3 and find groups much quicker.

For solo, you can use any weapon, armor, skills you want - as long as you have puncturing sweeps you can solo extremely well whether it's AOE grinding or soloing Craglorn delves.

Fair enough. Well if you're on PC/MAC no one uses the finder so I guess one could say "it doesn't work" although really it does work. If you're on Console you can have a good chance of queing if you select multiple roles as stated previously.

If you are in a large trading guild, you could just look at the roster and ask a lower level character if they mind grouping with you for you to do the dungeon. They don't have to come with you, just be group leader while you go in there and kill everything.

I hear ya, I only group if absolutely forced, I like to play solo so I can just play at my own pace, it does slow progress to play solo though. Also, its a fun challenge to figure out how to solo as much as you can.

I haven't tried it, but I've been told that if you group with a lower level and make them leader the dungeons scale to the leaders levels so you can go in and fight a lower level dungeon.

Hey another quick question I had, completely unrelated topic, but I didn't want to start a whole other thread, do they let you dye your weapons and shields yet?

No, I believe that shields are being worked on but not weapons as yet. I could be wrong on both counts but I'm sure they're sympathetic to the idea.

@Hartagon my original short response to this question of NO may of been not the whole truth. You can't scale down a dungeon by yourself, but as @Belidos hints at, when you're in a group the dungeon will scale to your group leader. For example, you are v1 and the leader in a group with 3 other v16s. When entering the dungeon all the mobs will be scaled to v1 and the v16s will be able to faceroll. But someone in the group has to be the lowbie leader.

It does work. If you already have a group member, then the lowbie leader can leave the group as soon as the instance is set (ie, the first player travels to the dungeon).

If it's just you and them, they have to remain grouped with you (but they can go do their own thing). I think they can log off as well. But if they leave the group, you will be removed from the instance.
