Yeah I am sitting here comparing Breton to High Elf on racial skills..ugh.I do have a sorcerer I started a few days ago. Maybe I just got bad info but I was using my restro staff to keep it up with destruction staff and was told by guild mates that any healing I do as a sorcerer is on others not myself. Again I haven't looked at it in depth, need to though. I know there are healing abilities with the restro staff and I can't imagine that NONE of them help me while I am helping others stay alive as a sorcerer.
I was grinding with two templars last night. One was Breton the other Argonian and they rocked! I had so much fun running with them it sort of peaked my interest to try being a templar.

Don't you actually have to be wearing heavy armour for that to have effect?
Thanks again everyone for all of the info! Maybe it's crazy to try and be this informed about what to pick but my V1 was a total mistake. I made it based on what my starting guild "wanted me to be" not what "I" wanted to be and while she is awesome, it isn't what I wanted. It worked for that guild and how they ran but now that they have jumped ship and left, I am stuck with a character that is spread too thin on many things instead of being focused on a few great things! I know respec is an option but I do hate to part with 15,000 gold coins!I will never delete her and will keep moving her through V levels but I always wanted to be a sorcerer or templar.

All your heals help yourself except someone ese has for example 70%max life and you have 90% then your heal will hit him. So every heal you cast hits the ally with lowest life. But theres no difference between tmplar and staff skills.

There is one templar ability that specifically heals the caster but I still useful staff more, personally, so far. Regardless, I wouldn't base the entire class choice on that one heal, tho, because it seems more of a back up where staff is more the bread and butter.
Healing Ritual....2nd one in the RL line.
I agree, for a dedicated healer I, personally, would go templar and I did, but if soloing is the priority with healing as a secondary sorc is worth having a look at. NB too, probably.
So I guess my next question is which is better to use, the two handed weapon or shield and weapon? I have rarely used a two handed weapon but when I did they seem to be quite powerful.Or maybe no need for weapons at all just staffs?
The Breton racials offer good support for the Templar and help with the one major weakness attributed to the class: mana. Really, any race will do fine, but if you really want the min/max edge, go Breton.

actually Altmer do it better with a bonus combat magicka regen AND extra magicka.
if your going healing tho hands down you go Argonian or Altmer if you prefer not needing to keep your scales moist
Some of the comments at the beginning of this thread are misleading about what a race is. If any of the races in Tamriel were real, all humans would only be one of them. There is only one human race on planet Earth which is made up of several ethnicities. Nords, Bretons, Imperials, and Redguards are actually different races with different DNA structure, which is why they have different racial abilities.
If the races of Nirn were here on Earth, they would looks something like this:
Imperial: Human
Nord: Neanderthal
Redguard: Heidelbergensis
Breton: Alien-Human Hybrid
You necro'd a thread from over a year ago for that? To insult someone on the basis of you not understanding Elder Scrolls lore? Here's a hint for you: Bretons are a hybrid of 2 different species: men and mer. They have mixed blood which eventually bred true. @SFBryan is absolutely correct in his analogy. Some of the comments at the beginning of this thread are misleading about what a race is.
