2 Questions. One of which is startling me

Straight to the point:

1) My friend was able to buy motifs for Daedric, Ancient Elves etc. and was able to craft it at level 1 Woodworking, Metalworking and Tailoring. This was from a guild store, not crown.

Question is, how? If you have an Alt with Lvl 40 Metalworking, Tailoring and/or Woodworking, does it allow you to craft Daedric etc. on another without Lvl 40 in those?

2) How hard is it to level to Veteran as a Dragon Knight?

Difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 9 years. 6 paid expansions. 25 DLCs. 41 game changing updates including A Realm Reborn-tier overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver&Gold as a "you think you do but you don't"-tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game.

I can sort of answer #2....

:I do not have much to compare it to, but my main is currently a VR2 dark elf dragonknight, and honestly to get to VR1(lvl50) it didn't take all that much time. I play maybe a couple hours a day, usually do all the quests/achievements that I can per area, and this made it so that I was Vet within a couple weeks - month of consistent gameplay (on average 2 hours/day).

I think the rate at which you level might be influenced partly by the alliance you are a part of; I have heard being part of the Ebonheart pact means you level a bit slower on average that the other alliances, though I have yet to find the time to test this theory

I'm always on Daggerfall Covenant, which seems decent for exp when I was a NB and my main as Templar.

To try to chip at answer #1...

I believe that as long as one of your alts has bought the motifs/is the proper level to craft them, that your secondary/tertiary characters are also able to craft armor/weapons in that motif. I have heard people discussing this in another part of the forum... I'll check it out in more detail.

I thought, though, that you would still have to be the right crafting/woodworking level to be able to craft these... so more research is required

Well I did just loot a Barbaric motif, so I can put it in bank and take a look.

Unless something has changed, there are material levels required to learn the rare motifs, except Imperial. Imperial can be learned at any material level.

Daedric used to require the character be at level 50 to learn it and I think it still does, along with the Material Level at 9. However only one craft line material level has to be at the appropriate level to learn the motif, so you can be at material level 6 in woodworking to learn Primal, but be at material level 1 in cloth and still make it.

As for leveling a Dragon Knight at Vet ranks, it is no different than any other class.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

It's level 40 Woodoworking, Tailoring or Smithing when you have a 9th skill point into Metalworking etc. for daedric, since I can craft it.

In regards to me testing that, I am not able to learn it at level 1 on an alternate.

The answer to number one is that while motifs looted/found/purchased in game have crafting material level requirements to learn them, the motifs purchased in the crown store do not. If the motif was purchased with crowns a level 1 with no points in crafting could learn them. If the motif was looted in game the material level requirements apply.

Second question, your class does not affect the rate at which you level. Your playstyle is the only thing that effects that (meaning things like -- do you quest vs. grind, do you take your time and smell the roses vs. skipping conversations and reading lore books, etc.).

This is the things startling me. My friend without level 40 in Blacksmithing, Tailoring etc. is able to craft Ancient Elves, Barbaric, Daedric and Primal. He didn't buy them from crown store.

I'm looking at an Ancient Elf and Daedric motif I had stash away on my level 3 bank alt in game right now and the rank requirement is definitely still listed there in the tool tip for non-crown store motifs. Double clicking to use is giving me the notice that I can't use it yet because I don't have the required crafting ranks. So it doesn't look like anything's changed with how looted motifs work.

I have two character who have maxed all crafting professions and both have had to learn what motifs they know independently of each other. They both have to reach the minimum rank in at least one of either metalworking, tailoring or woodworking passives in order to use the purple motif books.

Now, when a character learns a style in one profession they are then able to craft with that style for all other professions as well. So say you have a level 50 blacksmith with 7 points in metalworking who just learned barbaric. That character can now make equipment in that style for woodworking and clothier too even though they may only be level 1 of those professions with no points invested into the passives. It just makes it so that you don't have to find and use multiple copies of any of the motifs for each and every profession on a single character. That's all. No special privileges other than that.

If your absolutely sure those motifs weren't purchased from the crown store then you guys may want to submit a bug report, no character should be able to learn those motifs without the proper crafting rank.
