The new armor sets leave 2h weapons out of the mix?

I understand the reason why ZOS is implementing a new sets that normalize the game, in one way the game becomes less unique but on the other hand maxing and stacking hard to get gear can create an imbalance.

The new gear meta seems to follow:
  1. 5 set armor bonus
  2. 2 set armor bonus (head + shoulder)
  3. 3 set IC jewellery

This leaves 2h weapons out of the mix with having no set bonus outside masters weapons. The only viable way to have a weapon to be part of a set is to craft a set and to ignore the new gear meta.

This also penalizes 2h weapons compared to dual wield and 1h/shield because the extra item can be combined for a smarter set bonus.

I'm not complaining, I just think this was not very well thought out, it would make a hell of a lot more sense if the new IC jewellery/weapons were a 2 or 4 set bonus instead of 3.

With a 2 set bonus you can have for example ring/ring and neck/weapon, with a 4 set you can have ring/ring/weapon/neck, with a 3 set you got nothing.

The numbers thing is always going to be there, but it’s more down to player skill and there are ways through ability choice to configure a group to be stronger vs. large groups of people. - BRAIN WHEELER - 2012 - LOL

    From my point of view I think all 2H weapons come with benefits that mitigate this. For bows and staves it's two words -- ranged attack. For the rest it's the increased damage and Rally (or its morphs). Those are pretty powerful replacements for a missing slot of set bonus. Or to put it another way, if they give 2H weapons an extra bonus for sets I want ranged attacks and Rally on my sword and board.

    90 plus percent of PVP's use 2 H for god like heals, gap closer, finisher, and wrecking blow that gains finisher attributes because of executioner. Oh did I mention one the few guaranteed crib abilities in the gane.

    Yes, you can't squeeze an extra 2 piece set bonus, deal.

    Hell, the fact somewhere between 90 - 98 percent of papers use 2H tells me it's plenty strong enough.

    But you have the flexibility of using 2h + 2 jewelry for one of the new jewelry pieces and then having a slot for a custom jewelry piece that suits your needs.

    Tel Var Stone merchants should have sold weapons which were the PvP equivalent of Master weapons. Master's shield, Master's Greataxe, Master's Warhammer and so on.

    But instead they rushed them in order to make release. So Tel Var armor, no weapons. Wait for Orsinium, maybe more positive for weapons then, sad if Master's weapons is an idea not developed further.

    I have the same issue, you are screwed when using 2H. Before patch you could at least use Master Weapon. But now, that they do not f..scale to v16...aint no freaking option no more

    This has nothing to do with increased damage or ranged attacks, this is a gear problem. You can get masters weapons in this game at v16 with a bonus already.

    As of now you can also get the set bonus using a weapon if you do
    • 5 set Armor (5 set bonus)
    • 2 crafted Armor + 1 crafted weapon (3 set bonus)
    • 3 Jewellery

    But this elmimates the helm/shoulder meta sets ZOS has been pushing out. There is a gap in their gear logic.

    I'm still waiting to see and hear about v16 Master's Weapons from end of campaign rewards, except there's no one in Cyrodiil to get the required points. 64z11Za.png
