On its own Skyrim was really good, If I compared it to my experience in Daggerfall-Oblivion it was awful. ESO is a good and enjoyable game for the most part, its really hard to get a good MMORPG. If it was a single player game and balanced around single player, it would be really good imo.

skyrim was a *** cop-out. they faked having meaningfully non-linear missions with intertwining storylines like they have in morrowind by putting everything in a dungeon or other one-shot locale so as to have similar control over the player's choices as you get in some linear action game. eso is the same but it's more blatantly obvious that it's completely linear because it's part of how the whole game is designed

Oblivion was a pretty generic western fantasy. It lost the numerous guilds with potentially conflicting questlines of MW.
Although Skyrim was even more of an action game than Oblivion was it did have a much more atmospheric setting than bland Oblivion even if it lacked the originality of MW.

If I could, I'd have "Morrowind online with friends".

I'd love to have to have the dunmer in the group talk to someone to get info because the NPC's won't talk to "beastmen". I'd love to have to sweet talk and/or bribe an NPC instead of just plunking a point into intimidate or persuade.

I think that there are some things that made Morrowind so interesting that could be translated into online play. However I also don't think that ZoS would be interested in actualy doing them.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

Morrowind, the last true solo character RPG.
Sure it had it's flaws, but that was as much programming & cost-return issues back then as anything.

I didn't mind it actually. However, it was extremely strict. You could not go into towns without being attacked, you'd receive constant sun damage so you always needed to lurk inside caves/houses. It did have some cool aspects, though. There were 3 different Vampire factions. Depending on what type of Vampire you were bitten by would determine what attributes you'd get a boost in (some Vampire factions preferred magicka, some strength, and I think the third one was stealth or something). After you were turned, you would receive an entire Vampire quest line for that faction. So basically, being a Vampire would pretty much become your whole world as every one else wanted to kill you. It was an interesting twist, and definitely one that was worth exploring just to see the world through the eyes of a Vampire in Morrowind.

They were lore consultants for the game, and not much else besides publishing the game.

However, I have noticed a bit more support off them lately, including plugs on the Bethesda Blog etcetera.

    To save time though:

    1) No, this is not Skyrim.
    2) No, this is not Skyrim Online.
    3) Skyrim has not gone anywhere, and people are perfectly free to go and play that as an alternative.
    4) Skyrim was not the best ES title.
    5) This is not Elder Scrolls VI.
    6) No, nobody knows when there will be an Elder Scrolls VI.
    7) No, Elder Scrolls VI will not be Skyrim 2.

    I hope this helps

Ah, but it is all about personal preference, no? It looked the prettiest, sure. But the RPG elements were pretty shallow and "Streamlined."

Shouldn't that be how it should be? If it were that way in ESO ZOS could have added underground vampire dens, or cities of vamps that stay locked up during the day. Same with werewolves. Those two choices should have been game changing mechanics, not seem like afterthoughts, like they seem like they are now.
What ESO really needs is an Auction Horse.

Oh yeah, I'd love it. Though they would need to add whole new quest lines for the Vampires so they could still level up and receive rewards/skill points (Werewolves can be human, so it wouldn't stop them from questing as normal). Would be quite a lot of work however. Definitely worth it imo though!

Flaw: design issue which prevents the game from playing.

Removal: design which people complained about when the game came out but is now better because of nostalgia.

    did they do anything?

They published it. They share all their marketing and PR people. ZOS and Bethesda are closely tied under the parent company. A different development team handles the development, but I'm sure Bethesda provided some assets from Skyrim and other TES games.

They're not completely separate entities, as some people here seem to think for some reason. Maybe it's because a lot people here harbor fantasies that Bethesda is secretly hard at work on Elder Scrolls 6 and that the parent company would be completely cool with them developing a game that would compete directly with ESO (I seriously doubt that).

Personally, I don't think there is a chance in hell that Bethesda is going to release a TES6 until after ESO has finished its run. Knights of the Old Republic was an incredibly popular franchise too. But you haven't seen Bioware developing a new KOTOR game since The Old Republic MMORPG, have you?
