More races to play as?

I was wondering if we could get some more races to play as, even if they aren't canon.

For example, how about playing as an Ayleid, or as both the Falmer or as the Snow Elves before they turned, or a Chimer (the dark elves before they turned grey) Dwemer/Dwarves? Or how about a goblin, or daedra that defied Molag Bal and was punished because they wanted to help the mortals.

I'm sure there are more races to jot down, but It would certainly increase replayability to have more than the base races we know of as each race would again have their own unique abilities.

No. Ayleids - pretty much died out at this point.
Chimer - became Dunmer hundreds of years before ESO
Dwemer - disappeared many hundreds of years before ESO.

I wish there was a deadra class worshipper class in which you picked one of the deadric princes and got skill lines based off of that princes power or were you could choose a certain deadric prince or one of the eight or the three tribunals and get a single skill line from that like for example Azura's skill line could give buffs at dusk or dawn give you more dammage with the filling soul gems stuff like that

The only ones which make sense are the Maormer, Tang Mo, Kamal, Tsaesci and Ka'Po'Tun. The last 4 are Akaviri races, and only the Tang Mo and Maormer are regular visitors to Tamriel.
    Sh'ira - One Eyed Tihm - Do'Mazar - Dar'Sol - Hazzahn - J'darr Sun-Arrow - Bishabi -J'manna - Narim Tollana - Abijah-Ra - Idhassi-Ko - Kajhe the Salty - Ti'lani - Sabhan-Dar - Palamai
    JakhajayAlt: Azala-Do - Saahni the Ohmes - S'aolla of the Darks - Zashima-La Ako'Zhajiit - Lo'Mai-Dro - Taheh-Do - Hrrula - Hatamira - Da'lai

I would prefer more classes, or even an extra skill tree per class maybe one that gets unlocked when you hit level 50 or something.

It could be a stamina skill tree with a few magicka morphs to allow for more options for both stamina and magicka builds.... Oooo, now I really like the sound of this.

Goblins and Imga would also make sense. I have a feeling I'm forgetting one or two others that would actually make sense, but it's late and I'm sleepy.

Something I once posted on the matter, reposted and updated:

Added races? Would be neat, buuuuuut... most would create lore ouchies, and I really wouldn't want that.

Dremora? They are more or less "demons" and would technically create a lot of problems running around tamriel - vendors will scream for the guard instead of trading with you, which would attack you to keep the citizens safe... it would be playing with a permanent "kill on sight" bounty unless they throw the lore away... No good.

Sload? Another antagonist race that got their behinds kicked out of these lands long ago... they might show up in an maritime-themed DLC as enemies someday, but wouldn't make a good player race... No good.

Dwemer? All gone except a single one... who could show up in some future DLC to talk to (pre-corprus), and there could be some "time travel" visit to the days when they were still around to interact with... but that's it. No good.

Lilmothiit? Have been extinct for a while now... remember that prison in Shadowfen? That was their main settlement... turned prison after their extinction... and clearly has been a prison for quite a while, enough time for there to be little justification for any "last survivors" of that race to be around. No good.

Chimer? All turned into dunmer except the tribunal (sorta) shortly after the dissappearance of the dwemer... No good.

Nagas and such? Weeeelllll... might be possible lorewise, but have huge problems game-wise. Not in the least, inability to wear boots and leg armor; also a bit of difficulty with some questlines in coldharbour, and generally being seen as "monsters" in many societies of tamriel, thus living with an "kill on sight" status... all together, I don't see hem happening. No good.

Giants, Ogres, etc.? Are often depicted as only borderline sentient, and too darn big, they'd clip through many places player characters would have to go. No good.

Nedes? The original nedes... are about as valid as babylonains in our time, though some of their blood is mixed in the bretons and nords, possibly even the redguards, they are no longer existing as distinct people in the time of ESO. No good.

Aldmer? Again, a gone ancestor race, their descendants the Altmer are still around, and in all likelyhoon not different enough to make any differenye... No good.

Atmorans? Same problem as with the nedes, not even sure if the two were not closely related anyhow... in any case, they are the ancestory of the nords, but don't exist as distinct culture in this time period and place. No good.

Youkudans? Again, an ancestor race whose descendants are today running around calling themselves redguards. Can't really see them as a viable player race on their own... No good.

Sinistral mer? Wiped out by the ra garda, though some lore points to their survivors having been assimilated by the sea elves... in any case, their own culture is gone, so... No good.

Ayleid? They too are gone and done, we see the last one in coldharbour, but what few may have survived the fall of their empire were not enough to sustain a viable culture - at best, there may be a few "lone leftovers" wandering around, but... let's call it a questionable "maybe"?

Kothringi? We meet some of them in Shadowfen, and they are all dead, sorta. Not really a good option for a player race... though it might be possible to have one as "last survivor" type of character... call it a weak "maybe".

Falmer? The old snow elves are mostly gone, their blind, mutated descendants live in the depths of dwemer realms and do really bad things to anyone they can grab, thus not really viable as player race. But a rare "last of their kind" type snow elf might perhaps even be a valid option for player characters... again, call it "maybe".

Akaviri races? Not really all that viable either, the last time any of these races came to these shores... was 10 years ago and the cause that formed the ebonheart pact. Their fate? Remember "Blood for the Pact"? Yup, that's how they went... though it might be possible to have some escape the vengeful pact forces and make their escape only to end up in coldharbour as player character... another "maybe".

Imga? Those might actually be possible... valenwood apemen trying to emulate the elves... I see no real reason against this...

Maormer? A very viable option, they are still around, still going strong. So maybe there might be some iffyness in AD questlines, but... no more so then for those people who have the "any race, any alliance" unlock and play out-of-faction races...

Goblins? Another completely valid option for player characters. Yes, they are a little on the barbaric side, but they talk, they are intelligent enough to craft and cast magic, and they are "usable" as slaves for the dunmer, though that often ends in revolting goblins...

Reachmen? Yet another completely valid option for player characters, just take the breton template and tweak it a little...

There we have it as far as I can see. Four possible racial options they might sell in the crown store someday... and a few more in the "maybe" category...

Having more variations in the type of Khajiit would be fun. Personally this one wanted to be a Cathay-Raht (ever see the giant Khajiit in the Windhelm's Mage's Guild?) Which is why this one made his Khajiit main as tall and muscular as he could (at best looks like a regular Cathay, still not tall enough).

This one would also love an unarmed skill line as he always wanted to fight with his claws!

I would not like to see lore breaking races added.

However, Goblins, Imga, and Maomer are good options! We've never been able to play them in other TES games, so it would be cool.

Plus, they are around during this time, and Goblins and Maomer are even IG already!

I'd say add a dog-man race as a counterpart to the Khajiit, but that would interfere with the timeline lore lol

As for people saying they want more classes there is an upside and a downside to it.

Upside is more classes is possible seeing as previous Elder Scrolls games had so many. However, they are mostly for things you can simply take up a specific weapon for. To add many of those classes would take away the freedom to use any weapon as any class since there would be Archer class instead of Bow Skill Line and Healer class instead of Restoration Staff Skill Line and stuff like that. The only new addition to classes since those 4 games is Dragonknight which could just be a change from Knight but don't quote me on that because I haven't played those games lol

Downside is adding new classes would require 1 of 2 things: All Characters already in existance would not be able to be those classes unless granted a Class Change and I honestly do not believe that would be the best bet for various reasons so the only other option is to use said new classes everyone would have to create a new character. Regardless of whichever option is chosen there would be a requirement of sorts to start over and if the Class Change angle is taken all the work people put into their character's previous class would be wasted.

Overall I'd say adding new classes would not work, nor would adding new races since the object of this game is 2 things: Contesting Daedra instead of joining them (although I am sure many would love the idea of siding with the Daedra rather than oppose them there is the simple fact that they would have a PvP disadvantage vs Fighter's Guild Skills and the like and many people would be turned away from a Daedric race for that reason) and being 1 of 9 races that are part of 3 different factions to serve in the war to conquer Cyrodiil. Imperials are only viable because A. You could be an Imperial in previous Elder Scrolls games (or at least Skyrim) and B. Cyrodiil is their home so why not pick a side to aid in taking back your homeland lol

I think there's a lot of mileage left in the races we have!

ZOS could introduce sub cultures like the Reachmen, Ashlanders, Iron Orcs, Forebears, etc. I hope someday we are allowed to align with/worship one of the 16 Daedric Princes or 8 Divines. We also have over a dozen different vampire bloodlines, and ten or so Lycan strains that could be added.

Khajiit have 16 different fursocks, 8-10 of which could be playable...
    http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/141710/suggestions-for-an-eventual-khajiit-centric-update/p1

Argonians have 4 tribal races that COULD be used to add some races...
    http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/147221/concept-for-a-future-argonian-centric-update

But honestly what I would like most is a more robust character creator options
    http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/155307/monetization-of-character-creation-concept/p1

Then there's 2 dozen or so guilds that could b be added.
    http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/159824/the-guilds-act-a-discussion

Or 20 or so more classes that could be added...
    http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Classes

Or classes could just be morphed...
    http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/comment/2101276/#Comment_2101276

Of course, my concept for mixed-race character offspring would offer players an insane amount of options...
    http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/153977/eso-character-offspring-a-phylogenetics-concept

I guess my point is... Let's hope for something a little more creative than new races. The Elder Scrolls can offer SO much more than that:wink:

We really don't need more classes or races. The great thing about previous TES games was that you didn't really have a class, but you could choose one to be a basic guideline to assign your stats. You could even make one up that matched your play style. Same can be done here. So you're a sorcerer? Are you a Battlemage that focuses on hitting hard with spells, or a spellsword that balances their strength in magic with physical endurance?

There is room for a lot of possibility with what you have. Not being locked to any specific weapon or armor set alone should let you be creative.

There is none. There is a reason why they are modded only. Because Daedra are totally different from the other races on Nirn. They aren't born in the conventional sense, they don't die(just return to the Void), they can't suddenly come to Nirn unless summoned, and they need a lot of power to just stay on Nirn(barring very exceptional circumstances). You're more likely to see Akavir than official playable daedra.

Actually, that brings up a good point. It would be impossible to have a daedra playable race in ESO, because the entire thing that makes the player hero special and drives his/her involvement in the main quest is something that simply wouldn't be possible for a daedra.

What makes the player different is the fact that he is a vestige - a paragon soul shriven. That's what allows him to be reborn when killed, what allows him to use wayshrines, what makes him dangerous to Molag Bal's plans, and in many quests throughout the game what makes him capable of doing what others can't.

As daedra are naturally formed from chaotic creatia, it's simply impossible for them to ever become a vestige.

I don't remember there being a clamor for daedra for a playable race. At most I will see a mod that implements them, but even then most are able to contend that their official implementation wouldn't make much sense at all in canon unless they did a substantial amount of lore backflips to make it happen (or a really whacked out quest line).

Daedra are not the typical race. Beyond even the Imga, Sload and Ka PoTun the deadra are, in their very essence, beyond nirn. That is, not only do their laws of being and psyche differ greatly from the natural construction from basically everything else in Mundus, but they are so far removed from mortal essence that most TES premises simply don't fit them (granted, nearly all protagonists thus far have been 'gifted' in some way by supernatural powers, but all of them were distinctly mortal when the game starts).
Plopping a daedra onto nirn would be much akin to letting a beast roam in a world full of frightened sheep. None would openly talk to you, none would trade with you, few will give you quests (except for crazy/ambitious mages and insane people) and overall the game will have to literally remove you from the world of mortals to make your open existence make sense at all. That is not even taking into account the lore of the daedra itself--what with all of its well known removal of interests in most human affairs and the fact they don't even seem to have the same emotional tendencies as mortals....

Yeah, daedra seem like a no-go.

I'd prefer to see a separation of Nibenese and Colovians for the Imperials. So far we just have an all-encompassing Imperial for both. Yet the Nibenese have a LOT more Akavir influence in their culture, while Colovians balance it out more with Nordic and their own.
