I'm a Templar, and I'll primarily be leveling the necessities, such as Light Armor, Heavy Armor, One-Hand & Shield, Two-Handed, Restoration Staff, etc. I know it's possible to be a tank, but is it wise to attempt to make Templar an equal DPS and healer, basically being in melee range of a mob and being able to have very potent heals?

If so, how should I allocated my attributes this way? I'm currently keeping Health, Stamina, and Magicka even with the Skill Points I gain.

Well if you run a magika templar, you coukd be sone sort of jack of all trades. Only mind yoh the more diversified you are the less good you are at specific thing.

You could try to run a setup of 5 light 1 heavy 1 medium, sword n board then resto staff setup with even magika and health allocation. From this point you could expand into specific thinks you want to achieve. I ran that setup last patch. Reized I wanted more dmg so dropped the shield for dw for more spellpower.

If you build your Templar to be a high DPS build, you'll naturally be pretty well equipped to heal, if you change a couple things. Heals and damage scale off spell power and your max magicka, so the more you have of those, the harder you hit with both.

Doing both simultaneously is tough because you only have so much magicka and because you need to be very aware of everything. The awareness thing just comes with practice. However, the sustain really only comes with boosting regen (base magicka regen and/or chugging pots). But, if you boost regen, you'll likely have to lose some DPS as well as heals.

I know that doesn't really answer the question. It's just my experience. I havefound the following guide to be quite helpful in building my magicka Templar. The build has doing DPS while healing in mind in endgame.

EDIT: On the sustain part, Channeled Focus is your friend.
