HUNGER BAR

So far i absolutely love this game but i feel like for all its realistic features, its missing something a role play to this degree should have a hunger bar. That way when you go on missions you have to pack food for the journey or you can hunt while your on the road. Not saying it has to be like Dont starve where you have to eat everything you see, but something that's noticeable. I just think it would be a fun idea and probably wouldnt be that hard to work in, but lets hear some thoughts on this idea.

Keep an open mind, just think its a cool idea to add a more real feel to the game, cause I might never eat in the game otherwise and it feels like a waste, just seems pointless.

Drinking and hunger would be excellent.

Doesn't have to be terribly complicated, but you should need to drink water and eat. A simple bar or indicator that pops up when required in minimum, but better would be a detriment in regen when you are thirsty, and detriment in pool sizes when you are hungry.

Both effects would be accompanied by corresponding visuals (progressive screen blur or something, out of breath sounds when running when thirsty), and both effects should scale in a an exponential fashion, with lots of leniency at the high end.

At full hunger (after a meal/drink), you have your max stats unaffected. As time goes on, they slowly begin to drop off, barely at all until a long time passes. Below that they really start to drop off.

We already have the different positive affects for drinking/eating different things. This is just the other side of the coin.

In a way there is already a "hunger mechanic" to the game.

Eating quality food boosts your attributes so much that playing without eating is almost suicide most of the time.
So I take it that when my food runs out that my character is "hungry" and eat another serving.

That's pretty much how I play, but I'm a chef so it's just natural to me.

Yea i agree that the food does give stats, however i mean like a visible bar that depletes then over time if its empty you start loosing health, that way hunting skills are essential.

Most games don't go for that, since most players prefer not to have to deal with that much realism. Me, I'd welcome it, but then I'd also welcome a lot other roleplayer-ish things the gamer side would find annoying... from getting rooms in inns to rest up to different laws in different places, from guards fining people for "public indecency" to emotes for "bio breaks", from armor effect on swimming (as in, sink like a stone in full plate) to more alchemy options (I would like to see potions reuiring the classic "eye of newt"... ;) )

In any case, it is true however that food buffs generally give you somewhere around 20% increase to your attributes, and therefore are pretty nifty throughout the game, and more or less essential for PvP and endgamne content...
Though last I checked, we still can't have food buffs and drink buffs...

Mortal men can survive for 40 days without food, 5 days without water.

A day in ESO is about 6 hours per cycle. That means we can survive 30 hours before dying of THIRST.

Dying of hunger would require two weeks.

That hunger bar is looking pretty useless right now.

Consuming food/drinks is already tied to increasing attributes. Consuming another food/drink item would cancel out any effects currently in place. Thus, adding hunger as a game mechanic would interfere with a current game mechanic. Just a thought.
