Booted for excessive messaging/spamming but haven't said a word!

I just got dc'd after a few minutes of jerky gameplay with an error message telling me I'd been kicked from the server for excessive messaging/spamming. I hadn't been using chat, I don't have any addons, I was just wandering around Auridon picking up the skyshards I'd missed. WTH?

If you loose connection for a short moment, your client will store up all actions that you do and send them all at the same time to the server, which gets you kicked.

Awesome. So their way of handling you getting disconnected is to disconnect you again. Nice coding :-/ Thanks for the reply; at least now I know why!

It's not a real disconnection that causes it. It's when your network latency skyrockets, all your actions are jammed somewhere, it may be on the client end or anywhere on the path through the internet to ZOS. When they finally get all at once to the server, it goes defensive and boots your out, as it can't really investigate wtf has just happened.

That is called a bug. A server-side bug, to be exact. The hex codes sent back and forth on most systems indicate what actions are going on. It should be monitoring for whatever hex code equates to chat. Getting a thousand movement updates should NOT kick you for spamming. Again, server-side bug.

Of course it should. That's how the server protects itself from DOS attacks.
