PLeqase Help Zos Need to understand why is the patch 10 gigs but i am downloading 30 gigs

HI Zos

The title sums it up.

I really am not complaining I am just asking.

The complaint (not with ZOS) I have is that My bandwidth is only 20 gigs but I have to download 30 gigs. so why the big download when we are told its 10 gigs ?

To all others if you have nasty remark to say please keep it to yourself. If you have helpful hints please share but do not tell me to get more bandwidth I have already done that and its going to cost me fortune this month. because I may have to purchase more.

But how is an explanation going to solve OPs issue? It's not like he can pick and choose what to download from the update. This isn't a buffet. It's all or nothing, with or without explanation. Want to know what's being downloaded?

It only says 30 gig on your screen but the actual file size that is being downloaded is only 10. It should either go from 1%-33% really fast then slowdown, or once it hits about70% it will shoot to 100% or just finish.

And i thought i was behind in the technology.

I am trying to understand what you say Reeko

but the fact is I have already used 20 gigs, I have checked with my ISP, and my download is only on 18% with 11 gigs still to download.

I still do not understand why they say only 10 gigs but I have downloaded already 20 gigs with another 11 gigs to go.

is my game missing files ?? I have played ESO since last year october till this year 30 August, until the new DLC.

or matter was created lol

Are you are sure it still says 'downloading' and not 'applying patch'? A 10Gb download will still need to be installed to all game files (I am sure there must be a more efficient way of patching the game, but that is the way it is), when it is applying the patch it will count down from about 30Gb.

It say " downloading 11603.66MB remaining at 50KB/s lol

In the late evenings it reaches about 110 kb/s.

But why will I still use 11,6 GB???

the patch is only 10 GB

SO why will I use 30GB of data ??????

I really hope ZOS see this post and give some useful explanantion. I am upset that I have to download 30gigs and not 10 gigs. I really need to understand this. I know I said a few times. I will say it again

I believe they had said in the past that these Incremental Patches have all the previous patches in them as well. Thats why they look large. If you already have downlaoded the previous patches you wont redownload them so you are not actually downloading 10GB.

KObaal I have already downloaded all the pathches already other wise ESO will not run until al the incremental patches have been downloaded. but thank you for trying to Help

But it still says downloading 30 gigs not 10. well now its around 11 gigs and it has used my bandwidth so had to buy more. I do not see the 10 Gig Download. I really wish ZOS would explain this. They have the answers to this.

What are you hoping the outcome will be @WhiteTigre? That ZOS will tell us that there is a way to NOT download all of the patch? If ZOS comes in and explains exactly what's in the patch and why that is in the patch... how will that actually help you?

I know you're repeating yourself, and I'm not sure what your hope will be, but it is pretty clear that his local language/colloquialisms are not coming across to mean what you think he means.

I'm genuinely trying to understand what he is looking for. I'm not trying to be a jerk.

He is expecting the patch to be 10 gig, but when he downloads it, it's 30 gig. He has verified with his IP that he is indeed downloading 30 gb and he has been keeping up with the patches, so he shouldn't be re-downloading the patches. The launcher checks his files and updates what's needed and for some reason, that's 30 gig.

If the launcher determines that there needs to be 30 gb downloaded, I'm not sure there's much that can be done about that. You update or you don't.

@BlueGreenMikey, when did you download this large update? Have you submitted a ticket via https://help.elderscrollsonline.com/app/ask ?

It's a way of demanding something without demanding (though they end up demanding explanations...I don't know, I just work here).

Given that the OP is playing on the EU server which doesn't get patched for another four and a half hours, I'd suggest that it sounds like the OP is reinstalling the game rather than updating it. Alternatively, he may be installing the PTS or NA version by mistake.

If that is the actual patch you are downloading they may have added stuff to it which will make the download larger, or if you haven't log in for a while they are most likely previous patches you haven't downloaded yet or previous patches + today's patch.

Hi All

I know ZOs cannot really do anything. . Zos Says the patch is 10gigs, so why is my machine downloading 30 gigs ?
There must be an explanation for it.

Because in future I would like to avoid this scenario, and download what is required.
I am not complaining I am trying to understand why . I am not demanding anything. I just would like an explanation.

@BlueGreenMikey I am not looking for justification I am looking for an explanation, because if ZOS says its 10 gig and everyone I have spoken says its 10 gigs, so why is my machine downloading 30gigs ?

Sho, are you on uncapped? If so, need to switch to capped bru! I clock 200kb+ constantly with Afrihost capped, 2mb line. Nice to see another SA on the forum.

Back in the day you could get test accounts from Afrihost, they'd send you login details for a 1gb trial. Try contact a rep there and see if they can give you one, and test it first.

I think I read something like 10gb in English, 20gb in German and 30gb in French but really that should not apply to you so I am unsure as to why your download is larger.
