VR16 - Sorcerer - What's your anticipated gear?

After 2xSkoria+2xAdroit+4xMartial Knowledge was the cookie cutter gear before, what is your anticipated gear for VR16/IC? Any new set you're looking forward to get, or are you just updating your current gear to VR16 where possible?

Share your thoughts!

(PS: please include short info if stam or magicka spec, as this seems to be interesting as well)

    Magicka Spec:
    (2x Destro Staff)

    3x Willpower (Jewelry)
    2x Molag Kena
    4x Overwhelming Surge
    2x Torugs Pact

    Stamina Spec:
    (Twohander+2xDagger)

    3x Agility (Jewelry)
    2x Molag Kena
    5x Vicious Ophidian or 5x Hundings Rage
    2x (Daggers) Night's Silence
    Masters Big Sword



    ^^ Those two setups are only theorycrafting tho, I won't use my time to farm that stuff. Also, not sure if Molag Kena is THAT good and if Nerieneth would be better.

    I would be very interested in seeing whether Molag Kena is worth it or not. Sounds a bit borderline to me.

    I'm pretty sure Willpower jewellery + 4 pieces of overwhelming surge will be standard for magicka builds. I don't see anything else that would be worth the grind.
    Other than that, I'll either update magnus/torugs to vr16 or stick to martial knowledge vr14 for that 3 piece spell power buff - depends on how fast the material prices drop.

    Isn't Martial Knowledge available in VR16 if you open chests as VR16 player? Because other than the traits, the set could be an easy-to-get option if you can't get Overwhelming Surge (where does that set drop btw?)

    Same question goes for PVP Rings (Cyrodiil's Light) - aren't they available in a VR16 version as well? And if so, what's the price? ;)

    Since I refuse to enter into the RNG drop grind that is the new V16 sets, I will go for 5pcs Kagrenac, 3pcs Willpower and 3pcs Phoenix.

    With the damage reduction in Cyrodiil, I'll put less emphasis on spell damage and more on resources including health. If it works out in regards to magicka pool, I may substitute in 3pcs Torug for the 3pcs Phoenix.

    Keep in mind that I do zilch PvE as far as possible.

    Im currently working towards a pvp and pve set.

    PVP set:
    2x Engine Guardian - v16 head and shoulders
    3x Willpower - v16 jewelry
    2x Torugs Pact - v16 staffs and chest
    4x Magnus/Phoenix - v16 hands, legs, belt and shoes

    PVE set:
    1x Molag Kena - v16 shoulders
    3x Willpower - v16 jewelry
    2x Torugs Pact - v16 staffs and chest
    5x Scalding Mage - v16 head, hands, legs, belt and shoes

    The benefit of running 1x Molag Kena and 2x Torugs Pact is that you can 1 or 2 spell dmg glyphs (increase of 174 spell dmg per glyph) because you dont need so much cost reduction in PVE. Plus, you dont need to farm the last boss of vet WGT.

    With the new need for good sustain, I am finding the following on my Breton sorcerer to be a great combination. I also don't suffer from the drop rate and rng ***.

    1 x Molag Kena shoulder LA
    4 x Seducer LA
    1 x Seducer MA
    1 x Torug's Pact HA
    Torug's Pact Destro Staffs
    3 x Willpower, Rings and Neck

    I tried Pheonix instead of Seducer on the PTS and found I needed to put magicka sustain on the jewelry, so thought I might as well go for three spell damage enchant on those instead and get my sustain from the Seducers.

    It works well.

    @Dkill , Overwhelming has dropped in WGT norm. Scathing in IP norm.

    Have not gotten any drops (set wise) from either Vet version.
    Just because you don't like the way something is doesn't necessarily make it wrong...

    Earn it.

    IRL'ing for a while for assorted reasons, in forum, and in game.
    I am neither warm, nor fuzzy...
    Probably has checkbox on Customer Service profile that say High Aggro, 99% immunity to BS

    Personally I'm reallllly thinking that Molag Kena is getting far too overhyped, especially for PvE where you need some sustain.... that's just going to drain you super quick.

    Personally for my sorc I'm heading for:

    2x Nerien'eth - Force shock counts as 3 hits, + a light attack = a 40% chance every second to proc this... for 7k+ damage without crit! And with zero sustain issues... is Molag Kena going to increase DPS by this much? Pretty sure its not.

    5x Scathing mage - For the extra spell power. May go Kagneracs Hope crafted if the RNG hates me for a while & I can't get scathing mage to all drop.

    3xWillpower jewellery

    1x Nirn staff.

    I haven't gotten any Martial Knowledge but all the set piece gear I got from Cyrodiil treasure map chests were V14, even though I was V16. I did get V15 junk decon stuff too.

    Torugs Staff would be useless but it should be a set for all cases and i dont take a willpower staff because i want one with nirnhoned.

    MK doesn't scale to v16, that's what Overwhelming Surge is for.

    My PvE setup is definitely going to be 4x Surge 3x Willpower 2x Nerien'eth/Engine Guardian 2x Torug's/3x Torug's (Dual swords on my execute/overload bar; Dual Blade and Blunt still increases spell damage with dual swords).

    cyrodils light is not purchasable at v16 for AP - but its rumored to be within the for the worthy rewards.
