Please cycle the maintenance times

I have weird working hours, and I'm sure I'm not alone. I wake up at 3:00 - will play through to 5:30-6:00 then get ready for work and go. I generally get home about 18:00, but on a good day around 17:30. Make dinner, put laundry on, do some shopping, go to bed at 19:30.. so there's little time to play in the evening. It's a real kick to the head when you wake up at 3 each work to find maintenance has just started. I mean, there's not much else for me to do at that time. Not like I can go to the pub for a beer with friends, so I like to jump on eso, get some researching started and chill out before work. I think it'd be fairer if the maintenance times were cycled each week to begin at different times. Today I will miss out on a chance to research gear, train my riding skills and have a bit of a fun before work, and this happens every week. It got to the point where I had to say something.

Thanks.

Why would they need to if the times are cycled every week? If it was only down once in a while for me I would not be making this post.

because they don't have the people available at any different hours each week to do it?

Those guys have schedules too, just like you. I don't think you'd like your schedule to be changed every week all the time to different hours.

I assume you're in oceanic timeframe possibly? What platform are you concern about? Zos revolves their maintenance times to create less impact on most populated peak time zones.

They perform maintenance on the other servers at different hours of the day, and it's not like the company is being ran by 5 people. I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be a huge deal for them. I get why they chose 3:00 BST for their time - because mostly people are sleeping, but not everybody is unfortunately. I'm not saying never do maintenance at that time, just mix it up so people with that schedule aren't the only ones missing out. It's not much to ask for.

If they mix it up, people would suggest, and rightfully so, that they need to pick a time and stick to it.

Some people may like times that change, but a whole lot of the world just likes things to be at the same time each week.

Yes, but I don't mean random times. Still fixed, just fixed times that benefit all, because not everyone is asleep at 3am (they should be imo!).
If it doesn't happen, fair enough I will say nothing more. But I had to get it off my chest at least.

Head on over to DCUO....they have daily restarts, where the game is down for 30mins to an hour depending on how the hamsters are doing.

Then get back to me about how the weekly maintenance is problematic.

Personally, I use the downtime to play other games in my collection (with the odd DCUO visit to remind me of what I'm not missing).

Maintenance kicks off @ 12am in NZ, gets home from work at around 1am & maintenance is in progress. Australia, it will be anywhere between 7pm - 10pm. This is on NA. Think times are different for the EU server. At least its only once per week.

Well for the UK, it's usually either 11am or 2pm.

Most of Europe is within 2 hours of that. Any later and it would hit what is probably the biggest crowd of all, the 9 to 5ers.

Obviously people will fall outside of it, but they do it to work around the majority.

I'm in the UK, and maintenance usually takes place around 3am. It can range any where from 45 minutes to 2 hours.

I've never seen anything at the top of the page saying anything other than 11am or 2pm.

I've been home once or twice on those days when it's gone down at those times.

Are you sure it's maintenance and some issue?

I can't see them starting to do it at 10pm their time...

If so, do you honestly expect them to pull the servers down at a busier/prime time to suit the 5 or 6 people playing it on a weekday at 3am? Surely you realise you're in the tiniest of minorities?

Not having a go, just that you must see why they would rather do things at quite times than at peak times?

I didn't realise you were pc. Console times are always in the day.

You have even less of a case if this is the case. How many Europeans are up at 3/4/5 am?

Compare that to midday, and then 5-10 pm.

They should keep then as they are. It pleases the majority.

Oh yeah, I'm all for fixed schedules. But if they would alternate the times between the morning and early afternoon (when people are at work, school, uni), that'd be great.

I wonder why the OP goes to bed at 7:30pm and gets up at 3:00am to play for 3 hours before going to work. Why not play from 7:30pm to 10:30pm, go to bed at a normal time and get up in time to go to work? I've no doubt there's a good reason, but it seems the logical solution. His working hours aren't weird at all, but the desire to go to bed in the middle of the evening and get up in the middle of the night to play the computer does seem a trifle unusual. Still, I guess we're all different  !

I much prefer a fixed schedule, as I'm sure do the team working on these things, and a 3:00am patch time is ideal for me in the UK. We argued hard to get off-peak downtime in Europe, and I'd hate to have to give it up.

I suffer pretty badly with insomnia, and changing my sleeping schedule to this has helped me get a decent nights rest somewhat.

Bad luck with the insomnia, I alternate between struggling to get off to sleep, or waking up early, and getting a good night's sleep. It seems to go a few nights at a time in each phase. Mind you, I'm of an age where we tend to sleep less anyway.

I fear then that you're stuck with the fortnightly or so maintenance night, but I do think it's the best time for most people although I am sympathetic to those like you who are inconvenienced by it. I'm afraid there's no time that suits everyone, and a rotating schedule just mucks everyone up including the developers.

We all have different working hours and moving the times of maintenance would affect other players.
A request of one player that affects tens of thousand players won't just happen.
Despite that you can leave your PC on and the TESO launcher open.
Update will start automatically as soon as it gets the info from the servers.

Rather than accepting weekly maintenance, you should be encouraging them to make their servers so that they can go 2 weeks without maintenance.

Wait what exactly are the weird work hours in the OP? Except for the fact that he chooses to go to bed at 19:30 and wake up too early that looks close to your usual-8 to 5 ,9 to 6 work day.

My weird work hours can sometimes get me home at 3am. :#

Not only that, but you can also play on the NA server or PTS while the EU server is down. This is one of the comparatively few MMOs where they don't take all the servers down together.

Ah, yeah I tried to log on to the PTS, but it wanted to download another 40GB and I only have 20GB available.
