I don't care how many XP pots you have bought from the crown store.
YOUR game time is not more important than MY game time.
So don't go stamping your feet demanding me to leave an area because your XP isn't maxed out.
These are your options:

1. Go to a Personal area you can reserve for your own [snip] use - ie A GROUP DUNGEON "INSTANCE".
2. If you want to farm a PUBLIC AREA in SHARED SPACE in a MULTIPLAYER GAME......learn to share or go find another abandoned area.

There is no ONE TRUE RING of grinding for your personal use MY PRECIOUS ;)

@Rune_Relic you know what is much more fun than venting on forums? Just don't react to their whispers and show them that you can do the grind better solo, then they can do with two. I do that every time. Usually they just leave after a couple minutes.

Why get angry? If someone asks me to leave, instead of moving on to the next part of my quest, I will switch to AoE setup and nuke everything in the area for an hour, or until they leave. Then I'll follow them and nuke everything when they begin grinding again. Suffice it to say I'm quite a sour and vengeful person.

If i happen to come across someone who just want´s to leech without doing any work i simply pull a whole room and watch him get slaughtered.

If the person can carry their own weight i´m fine with it and grp them.

What i´m not fine with is me doing the work while someone else is gaining an advantage of my effort.

True. But they will not be educated in any other way as well. There is too much self-righteousness in those heads. It is more efficient to just oust them from the spot you want to work, for as long as you want to do it. I have one duo that I used to see quite regularly at my V3-V8 spot, who by now leave if they see me coming. Funny, that. Made a bunch of friendliest buddies there at the same time with people who are willing to group up...

So Just assume they wont change and don't give them the benefit of doubt.
OK. That was plan B anyway lol.

Most of the time I will join in with others on the fly... and others will join me and sometimes ask to group for some reason.
I accept no problem although I cant see the point as long as everyone tags the kills.
I make a point of only getting 1 hit in so that others can get damage in too.
I want the loot not the XP really.
So I know what you are saying about most people.
Hell its fun vaporising everything around sometimes. :)

Duo is very beneficial for the 10% XP bonus that you get just for teaming up. More means less XP per kill, but makes it easier to pull in everything and is quicker. If you have a spot that does not limit you with respawn times, a team of three is a blast if all know what to do and agree on a route.

I get this in Gold zones on Ps4. Don't see another player around for 2-3 hours while leveling up and doing quest. It's empty but kind of nice in a way (except for world bosses, need help with some of them and no one is around). Move to the next quest area and it's 2-6 players pulling every quest mob and AOE'ing them.

Example, I need to kill 5 vampires for ash or some *** and they're pulling everything so I start tagging mobs. Glad I play with voice chat off cause I know I was getting cursed out heh. Do my thing and move on. Not worth the time or effort trolling them.

I agree, this is an mmo everyone, has access to everything and nothing belongs to an individual, back in the day before self entitlement reared it's ugly head, people used to group and grind together, part of the social aspect of an mmo, I guess times have changed and not for the best it seems..

Yeah. Sadly, this has happened to me as well.

I had a squeaker get on mic and tell me to leave the area because I was kill stealing his mobs.

Suggestion: ignored. Sorry squeaker, it's an MMO and a public area. Get a grip.

I found Cryodiil is a good place to grind xp for levels V14 - V16. Just pick one of those villages/ruins with goblins/undead/bandits and go in a circle around it. The mobs respawn fast enough that you won't get bored. Of course you have to watch for other players from different factions, but it's a rare occurrence since most people are in IC or busy taking keeps.

I can feel this. Between local area chat and the "move away now" emote being used incorrectly (presumably its for a tank/raid leader to use in boss fights?) i can get wound up. Its not just the rudeness, but the tenacity of their arrogant selfishness that think's they have any right to tell me what i should do in my game, and depreciate my own enjoyment, solely because they may lose out or have to share a little bit of the XP for 10 minutes. I have even had it from guys who come into an area i am already in and tell me to "move away now"

The only reason i can see to have an alt in another faction is so if this happens in IC you can switch over and Gank them endlessly, following it up each time with your own emotes "move away now" and "guffaw"

If you want to grind with no interruption go on at 3am-7am at a weekend after you've been to the pub and have it all to yourself. Otherwise suck it up.

I must have many people angry at me reading through this post, never played an MMO before and when I see a player getting chased by a mob, I always thought I was helping out when helping him take on some of the guys, but that's also referred to as a kill steal and frowned upon by some? Hmm I tell you, as someone new to the game and MMO in general, should be a suggested etiquette! Seems there is a lot of drama when playing an MMO to be honest, I just want to have fun. I imagine I will hear from someone eventually about what an ass I am, but honestly, I dont mean it, just a clueless newbie to MMO!

I remember one time I was up at the Zombie Road in Coldharbor. I had been grinding for a couple of hours, couple of Pugs formed with me and then left, but I was mostly solo. I went from L44 to L48. The Pugs all thanked me for the excellent pattern and efficiency while they were there. I was pulling 20 to 30 mobs at once solo and mowing them down. Along comes some player who then tells me that I am doing it all wrong and I have no idea how to grind. Sheesh.

Well, I got my revenge by just doing my pattern which totally messed his up. He was cussing me up a storm in Chat. I wanted to put him on ignore, but it was so gosh darn funny. Even better, he was there the next 3 or 4 days. So, I would start my pattern and the chat abuse would just start flying. I told him if spent less time cussing me and started following me around he would get more out of his time. That really set him off.

Now, that being said, usually if I come upon a spot that other people are grinding, I will carve out my own little area and leave the rest to them.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

I've been in this scenario as both the grinder and the quester stumbling upon someone who is grinding.

When I'm grinding and run into other people questing, I simply avoid any mobs around them until they pass through. Sure, I may lose a little bit of XP and a couple seconds off my XP pots, but I certainly would never expect somebody not to play the game so I can grind. Although just the other day a solo player jumped in right when I was doing a big pull of 20 or so mobs and died almost immediately. Not sure if he thought he was helping, or was just trying to get some extra XP. So while I don't really care if I run into other people while I'm grinding, I would advise inexperienced players to avoid jumping into a fight when somebody is pulling a bunch of mobs, simply for their own safety. If you see me fighting 10-20 mobs at a time, you do not need to jump in and help, I can handle them :).

When I'm questing and run into somebody who is grinding, usually they don't bother to say anything, and I try my best to avoid mobs they are fighting. However when somebody decides to tell me to leave or not steal their kills, all it does is encourage me to "steal" their kills and stick around much longer than intended. What's funny is when they try to get me killed with the whole "pull a bunch of mobs and bail" technique and I still have no problem killing the mobs.

Moral of the story, try to be courteous whether you are questing or grinding, but also do not feel the need to remain courteous to those who will not extend any courtesy to you.

    +1!!!!!!

But I must say I am always the one "at the spot" people are trying to crash. I cannot count the number of times I have had Templars or DK's come into my grinding area and try to kill steal on me. I just keep on pulling packs of mobs as there is no way on earth that they can kill faster that I can. Also most of the time I am blasting music and just ignore them. I see the little white bullseye above them indicating they are following me around trying to talk trash, but I just keep on grinding lol.. Most of the time they give up and just move on. A few try to invite me to group with them.

My favorite is when they spend 20 minutes trying to out kill you and drive you away then they realize it isn't working so they try to invite you to join an EXP group lol.

I for one have been grinding MMO's since Nov 2 1999 this game isn't like they can drag enough on me to kill me like the golden days of MMO's lol .... Armored Tuskers anyone? :p

    [snip]

The problem generally is when someone that can't grind the spot shows up to leech.

The other problem is if you are there first, why is it you should be expected to teach the spawn pattern or pull pattern and carry along someone?

The concept of I deserve xp for being alive and I don't care if I adversely affect your xp while doing so is so "participation trophy".

I can say from personal experience that the leechers are also the complainers. Particularly the "I only spam steel tornado or elemental ring" leechers. There is no reason to allow someone to leech if you grind xp, all you are doing it teaching some big mouth a spot that they will tell everyone they found.

I'm not my brother's keeper and I'm certainly not my "not even my brother's" xp source.

Generally a little politeness goes a long way, and force sharing of a location isn't very polite. There isn't a zone without multiple grind spots, after all.

Lastly, if you show up and start trying to grind off someone and you never send them a whisper... it's you that's the problem.

P.S. There are a lot of blatant leechers in this game. They don't care, they deserve their trophy and most of the time it's going to be them that calls in the cavalry to screw the person that was there first and minding their own business and doing their own thing.

P.S.S. The entitled generation is the worst crop of uselessness I've ever seen. Sort of bad crops grown on fallow ground that think they deserve to be sold as good crops grown on fertile ground.

Just make sure, before you get all upset, that you had to take on those Welwas in order to get the mats and stuff you think you are entitled to. I take mats pretty close to mobs every day without pulling them, so if someone is fighting them when I roll up, I will still take those same mats. I won't take the ones normally protected by the mobs.
