Smells like lag to me. Animation cancelling in no way allows anyone to fire 8 shots instantly. Lag does.
Also it is unlikely consoles have macros (i said unlikely) so that's probably not the case either.
I say lag.

I get instant deaths from time to time too on the console,and it's almost always 5 lethal arrows/focused aims from the same guy.

I'd hope it's lag rather than animation cancelling,seems broken if such a thing were possible to pull off.

snipe/focused aim/ lethal arrow has a cast time. You cant cancel the animation without canceling the skilll. But it does have a travel time so he can fire 2 back to back and by the time the first hits have the second one fired. Then he can light attack and cancel the light attack animation with say a poison injection. So you would get 2 focused aims 1 light attack and one poison injection burst come at you with nearly no time to react (<1 second from the first lethal arrow hitting)

he can also weave a medium attack (charge a heavy attack) after/during the end of the snipe animation but needs to let the bow be at a certain height in the animation else this also cancels the ability. if timed right he can release it with/after snipe.
but what you describe cannot be done through "animaition canceling" AFAIK. but feel free to submit some video playback I'm sure people here could help identify what has happened.

in any case you can't achieve what you say with animation canceling. block can animation cancel a light attack/heavy attack/and insta-cast ability, and ability can cancel a light attack animation. but light attack will not cancel the animation of anything, it can only interrupt a casted ability preventing it firing.

I've never seen such blatant use of switchs as in destiny. I really only use one in private matchs against friends who are using them too. I had to make an exception for a week in destiny to level the playing field.
