Writs are way ahead of the area I'm in or recipes just not around...

Hey I'm only 2 weeks into the game (loving it) and neck deep in crafting.... and would love some more experienced options.

I'm currently level 27 Imperial Templar who is still finishing off Stormhaven who, with generous donations of gold from an experienced player (thus alleviating inventory tetris somewhat at bag and bank), and a few stacks of alchemy ingredients, everything else I've madly collected or bought recipes for such that I now have provisioning and alchemy at level 41 and blacksmithing/cloth/wood/enchant at ~ 11-14.

So a couple of observations/questions:

1. Doing daily writs I keep getting 'Oriculem' (sp?) ever since Glen. but I'm only just starting to see it Stormhaven - at 8 pieces per item and 9 items to make for this writ it very much seems that the game is trying to tell me that I shouldn't be doing writs yet? Which would be a shame as they are kind of fun. I like receiving mysterious packages full of weird things I don't really know what I do with yet. I keep abandoning this writ and picking it up again and it keeps giving me the same one.

2. Getting recipes. At the moment I want a Ginger whisky one (I think... server is down and I can't check details). People don't seem to sell the lower level recipes much and it seems like this level 6 Kings Ginger recipe is 6 copies at each store. Is there a reliable way of getting low level recipes? There seems to be so so many recipes that getting a recipe to match a writ seems like a bit of a crapshoot. Again I'll try to abandon and pick up a new writ but it varies by about 2 writs and after a couple of days will offer nothing but that writ.

3. Enchant - there was one writ where I had to make something and it wouldn't satisfy the writ for some reason. Probably because it was green and I read in some known bug thing that you had to make a white one. Which I had no idea how to do as all the runes needed for that particular part were green so the whole thing was going to be green so I don't know how to make a white one. Eventually it offered me different writs and I haven't been stuck on that one fortunately.

Hoping there are some experienced mind readers here that can interpret what I'm trying to say as I've muddled various details.

For yer first question I'm pretty sure the writs scale to the points you put in the crafting skill. 1 point is iron, 2 points is steel, 3 points is Orichalc, etc. I'm guessing you are over leveled in yer crafts.

The writ will be based on your smithing passives. As you put points in the passive for materials, your writ will ask for that material. Since your character may not have access to region where the resource is located, you may find yourself in the situation you are in. A work-around is to buy the mats until you can farm them. Pay attention to how you advance your smithing skills to keep them in line with character level.

Oddly, you often get the recipe you need as a reward for the writ you can't complete because you need the recipe-go figure. You can complete writs using the foods or drinks someone else has crafted (crafted, not found white versions), until you get the recipe as a reward, find it, or buy it.

Use ONLY Ta aspect runes for all enchanting writs.

1. The level of the material that needs to be used is based off of the amount of skill points you have put into that craft's passive (ie: you currently get told to use Orichalc Ingots, which means you have put 3/9 points in the passive skill line). If you loot weapons / armor, you will only ever loot the material type that your level is capable of using. For example, you're level 27..... Orichalc metal is for level's 26 – 34. So once you hit level 35, you will no longer be looting Orichalc and instead will be looting Dwarven Ore / ingots. You will continue to get Orichalc material writs as long as you have 3/9 skill points in the blacksmithing passive skill line. If you put another (4/9) skill point in this line, your writs would then require Dwarven metal....and would require the writ to be turned into the next location (zone).
2. Same as with blacksmithing....the provisioning writs will ALWAYS be of the level that you have you recipe passive skill points allotted for.
3. For enchanting writs....ALWAYS use TA as the aspect rune. If you use the green aspect rune the glyph will ALWAYS be green. Enchanting writs require Ta (end result is a white glyph).

Also, you may consider joining a crafting guild. This will give you a pool of people who can answer your question and help with leveling your selected craft.

Try pinging for Craftaholics or MasterCrafters (I think) when you are back in game. There are several others that I'm sure are just as good.

Be careful what you wish for is a good standard for doing writs. LOL... I'm always out of Nightwood. (level 14 mats) for doing writs. So harvesting will become a daily chore. Buying materials that are 'hot' in game is VERY expensive.

I've kindly been invited to join the guild that my very experienced friend is in and which has a number of crafters. However for this muddled prattling type question it's been lovely to lay it all out this way in forum-style rather than line by line question that can get lost in everything else that is going on. (I was totally inspired by a whole *subsection* of the forums here being on crafting
