Broken patch? 26 GB not enough for todays patch?

I keep getting a 'not enough space' download error running the launcher after todays patch. My game drive has 26 GB free. My OS drive has 30 GB free. I have 2 other drives that have 46 GB and 284 GB free.

The knowledge base article claims that patches could need as much as 25 GB, which I have.

The game then wants we to run a repair, which I don't have enough space to run.

The launcher goes through multiple stages before the error.

Stage 1: Downloading (less than 50 MB)
Stage 2: Applying patch (less than 500 GB)

Oddly, during stage two, progress goes forwards and backwards. I'll go from 437.51 MB left down to around 300 MB left, and then back up to 437.51 MB. Sometimes it oscillates two or three times..

Then, it jumps to Downloading 7.12 MB remaining and gives me the error "Error 104 - DownloadError_NotEnoughSpace."

After that, the launcher wants to repair, which fails because 26 GB is supposedly not enough.

I moved some Steam games to another drive to get my free space up to 32 GB. Seems to be working now.

The launcher really should let us know how much space is needed. The Knowledge Base says 25 GB is the most free space needed for a patch. They should fix that.

Wow, this is the most complicated patch ever. Multiple parts. I wonder if they are trying to minimize temp space needed. Partitioning the patch and then cleaning up in between downloads would be a nice way to apply patches.
