Just a thought about addons and ZOS

How hard would it be to use the code already written by the awesome people who made all these addons we use and put it in game and give people toggle options in settings. Of course it wouldn't be ALL of the addons because there are way to many, but just the top ones that most people use, and still allow addons for those smaller ones that not everyone uses. Using addons is a real pain when there is a major update, I am still working out all the kinks and had to replace a few addons since IC release.

I have sort of wondered this for a while. ZOS should "officilize" some addons and incorporate them into the core game. This would, of course, take time and resources from ZOS. Possibly even a dedicated team to handle making sure the addons are kept functional...

I'm pretty sure they can't just use the code that is already made by the addon maker because it's LUA code and I think it runs on top of the game. the code in the game isn't the same coding language. I could be wrong... Dunno.

The better option would be for ZOS to incorporate the features of some of the more popular addons directly into the game and leave the addon makers out of it... or be nice and throw the addon makers a couple bucks.
What ESO really needs is an Auction Horse.
    That's right... Horse.

Honestly, I think they'd screw it up. Rather have the add-on makers.

I was reading comments on esoui for Wykkyd Quest Tracker because that addon is still broken. One of the devs was saying that changes made to support gamepads made it a lot of work to update addon.

Unfortunately, as you know if you use that addon, it still doesn't work properly. I'm guessing the need to investigate the API some more and all the old functionality is still possible, but I have my concerns.

The problem with that is the addon authors don't always stay in the game. We've already lost quite a few and some wonderful and dedicated people have picked up on them to keep them updated. I have to wonder how long they can do it before they burn out. Donate if you can to help keep them going!

I know it's not as simple as ZOS just using their code. They do, however, need to incorporate the major functions asap.
