Is it just me or are Magicka NBs weak af?

When I say weak, I don't mean useless. 2 or 3 people on me and I basically won't die, but I don't seem to be dealing a lot of damage either. At first I thought it was just me, so out of frustration I logged my VR2 sorc on Trueflame. Standing there outside a keep and a magicka nightblade stealthed behind me and began laying into me, before I had any shields up. My health wasn't moving so I didn't even bother with hardened ward. After a curse and a few frags she cloaked away and didn't come back. It made me realise it wasn't just me having DPS issues. I'm still pretty new to the NB scene (level 44 now), but he can easily solo a dolmen in Cyrodiil and kill those boss things (they have two orange squares beside their health bar) with pretty high damage output. Mark Target on players also seemed to make very little difference... should I be relying on a destro staff instead of dual daggers? I do watch Sypher and Deltias build videos from start to finish, and they look great, but I love to make builds on my own to see how things work and don't work. Advice is always helpful though!

My build kind of looks like this at the moment:

Bar1:
Swallow soul
Teleport Strike (Lotus Fan looked to be absolutely useless. Please let me know if I'm wrong)
Concealed weapon
Impale (Execute)
Shadowy Disguise (I realise cloak is more popular for the purge, but the 100% crit on next attack just seemed too good, especially when my damage is low)

Bar 2:
Rapid Regen
Healing Ward
Harness Magicka
Sap Essence
Mark Target

Pretty much use Soul Tether for both Ultimates.

For gear, I use 5pc Seducer, 4pc Magnus (shirt, breeches and two daggers). I was having serious mag regen issues so swapped spell damage jewellery for regen and went with the Atronach mundus stone.

I can survive being hit by multiple players at once solo but I can't one shot them....

    /thread

Everyone's damage is less, they nerfed a lot of the weapon/spell damage sets from the old VR14 and decreased healing and damage in pvp.

This gives more sustained longer fights rather than always going for burst damage and one shot kills...

Some like it, some hate it and some think they took it too far and some did not even notice, play on PTS or even bother reading the patch notes so they make threads like yours....

Where's the fun in one shotting? Do you see any high damaging attacks like snipe on my bar? The problem is, no matter how long I spam attacks on someone, their health never seems to deplete at all. Same goes with me I guess, because I'm able to stay alive long enough for their friends to arrive. You're half right, though. I want to be able to kill things more efficiently.

Well your only 44 meaning you hit like a wet noodle because your battle leveled.

You have 16k magicka and 1100 or so spell dmg, were as a finished magicka nb can have 3k spell power and 25k + magicka...
    PS4 EU DC

    Current CP : 756+

I have every character level 50, both a magicka and stamina version.

RIP my effort to get 5x v16 characters...

    @Alucardo

Added more to my post. I see what you are saying, I am glad they stopped the "im going to one shot you from 30m away" or I am going to jump you from 100% to 0% hp in one second kind of crap that was going on but I do think they took the damage reduction and nerfs way way too far. Hopefully they will balance it out.

I saw a lot of complaining about high damage and insta kills, so it sounds like it was a good move. But nothing is dying unless you've got like 5-6 guys on one person. I'd be happy to see someones health drop a little.. just something.

I get what your saying but it is nothing that is not effecting EVERY CLASS not just magicka NB's...

NB's and Sorcs are the strongest in pvp right now...

I noticed my regen was lower in Cyrodiil. Went from 1400+ to 1100. My spell damage was increased from 900 to 1398 or something. This is in the non-vet campaign.. sounds like I'm happy to be battle levelled otherwise my spell damage would be pretty non-existent xD

I also use 5 Heavy Seducer/4 Magnus, the Atronach mundus and Healers jewellery with magicka regen on my Templar magicka tank but I appreciate that I've build for sustain and support. I'm sure if I wore 7 light and used/stacked spellpower sets then I'd kill faster.

"2 or 3 people on me and I basically won't die"

I think that's your problem. You want to be good at everything and that's not possible.

I didn't have any issues dealing damage on my sorc. It was slower than usual, but their health definitely shot down quickly. I can't seem to make the NB work though. Probably a L2P issue, but that's what I'm trying to find out

You're fighting in BlackWater Blade. That's your problem. Once you aren't battle leveled you'll hit a lot harder (grind to ~VR7 to save yourself the frustration) but you'll also die a lot faster. Fights in BWB last forever because everyone has the same stats and deals the same damage. It's a fun place to play but if you're trying to 1-shot people it's simply just not going to work like that for quite a while for you. I'd grind up now if you really want to do it before the next update hits console.

Does my build look more like a support type build? I did wonder if there was too many defensive spells there. Probably explains why I can't tank a lot of incoming damage, but dealing nothing back. Heh

I play a DPS Mag Nightblade and he's currently VR4. I gotta say I experienced a lot of trouble with my build until I found a playstyle that suited me, I played DK, Temp, Sorc, all in different Mag/Stam combinations, but I found my Mag NB that just stuck around. I do great DPS, taking out (some) players and bosses without my health going below 75%, my sustain and ranged DPS combo is really working for me.

    I use:
    Soul Tether
    Dark Cloak
    Funnel Health
    Crippling Grasp
Shadow Image or Blure (depends on situation)
    Testructive Touch
I use armour and jewelry to supprt regen and lower spell cost, shield, and damage.

I haven't settled completely on my second skill bar yet as it's still change nearly every day.
UPDATE: This workes for me, find out what works with you, try different builds and make your own as everyone has a unique playing style. Plus making your own builds makes you less predictable in PVP.

Nah, I'm not trying to one shot. I'd be happy with getting my target down to 80-90% health. On BWB, I'd call that a win.

Yeah you've pretty much built a survivable healer. Sticking some damage abilities on your bar isn't going to change that. You could either flesh out your healer role and group with some dps types, or change your build and gear to offensive stuff.
