Proof of Sorc Tank viability!

Ok my dear friends, yet another story.. but with a purpose

I join Cryodiil (who wants to hear about my PvE stories anyway lol) and instantl am offered to group with a massive group.

I reluctantly join as I doubt I'll get much xp. I am after all only Vet 2.

This large group of at least 6 and I head off towards the nearest enemy fortress. (This is Azura's Star or wutever its called)

We get decently close and Bam!

People start dropping left and right! One shots killing everyone! Yells start going through chat, people trying to resurrect people die!

Soon im left all alone surrounded by corpses! I know im next... i put on ward, put on all buffs just waiting.

Bam! Damage, but not dead, We see him...

The emperor! He is a Perma stealth NB, he hits and stealths hits and stealths.

We do battle (which really is me healing and warding trying to deal damage with aoes)

For over 5 minutes we battle. I can't seem to get enough attacks to really kill, he can't break my defenses.

Classic unbreakable shield vs unstoppable weapon.

Eventually allies do come back and we kill the Emperor! People had not respawned just to watch us duel.

This vet 2 stood toe to toe versus the famed perma stealth vet 14 emperor and lived to tell the tale

Im gonna go a head and say sorc tank is viable

Lol sure, that's all I did, that's all it took to survive the one hit KO.

Outside of pointing out that a sorc tank can survive no not really, but that was clear in the topic name right?

And I thought zerg was more than a few people.

And is there a point to your post @leepalmer95 ?

Anyway, I figure if a Sorc tank can survive that onslaught it is more than a viable tank build. Seen a decent amount of threads questioning sorc tanks so here is an example. This battle could have gone forever, I would not run out of magicka.

If he could not slip back into stealth I would've won

Vet 2 vs Vet 14. I guess CP points don't matter all that much too.

Take what you will from my thread, I was pretty excited to share. Even though it seems some people would prefer had I not.

This is basicly because of the 50% reduction in damage, noe decently defencive player can kill another decently defencive player 1v1, no chance unless you die of boredom.

I do see that coming. But this is pre update. Im a console player, xbox one only.

I had to keep my thunderous presence, dangerous cloak up to mitigate the massive damage, my ward was super helpful obviously. Storm atronach did deal damage and crystal frags got close to killing thanks to the knock down. Liquid Lightning I kept using to try and get him out of cloak.

I would have been throwing out Mage's Wrath but he would go right back into cloak, which was a pain.

If im right the perma cloak is gonna change a bit after update? You could make an argument this is a case of two OP builds facing off, seemed rather equal to me.

Keep in my mind my gear is only Green vet 1 armor I crafted. I can't help but think if my gear was the upper level region I would have done even better.

The 7+ one hits he did in the beginning was not something I expected! Im very impressed with NB, im also impressed with my sorc tank. Imagine if I was Vet 14! I think I would have trounced him.

Also shows me I really want detect pots lmao.

I'm just saying any class can spam their defence until help comes, sorc spams hardened, dk spams gdb, templar spams heal and nb's spam siphon or cloak.

Also your signal on your phone is terrible

So you're saying tank builds can tank? Thank god that's cleared up. Next case: Can DPS builds deal damage.

Normally this ends by one or both parties wanting to kill themselves, due to the extended duration of the no-damage fight.

Not to lessen your sense of achievement, but you were likely also battle leveled to at least VR12.

@Alucardo thanks for verifying sorc tanks are viable, now please go say that on the posts questioning the existence of sorc tanks.

Also if you don't see any reason in my topic then by all means ignore it, thank you.

And can DPS deal damage? Apparently not enough to kill me

Presently, battle leveling should make you the equivalent of a VR12 in medium quality gear.

After the update, it will be the equivalent of VR14.

There is something to be said about simply being able to survive, in some cases - especially if the 1v1 is against a former Emp.

Again, not downplaying your achievement, just reminding that status quo survival only always ends in a stalemate, whether in PvP or PvP.

EDIT: Correction: NPC's and non-VR's received the VR12 battle leveling boost, but VR's do not get it until the next major patch! (If Battle leveling is turned on, you essentially go down in power 11 VR levels the moment you roll over to L50)

Anyway, it is an accomplishment, especially when you're basically just starting out. Even more so against someone that, by all rights, should have wiped the floor with you.

Regarding how you'll be in 12 levels, my guess is "Awesome."

You're not afraid to get into the mix now, you'll have more skill, more skillpoints, and better gear. You'll also become much more proficient at your class and your build. You'll be more familiar with tactics and synergizing with group members.

While your stats may look the same at battle-leveled VR14 vs actual VR14, the actuall difference is significant, usually due to the time invested.

In the end, it all adds up.

Gratz again, and keep getting better. You'll do great!

Can we not just be happy for the guy or are the forums just about belittling everyone that post something?

Guy is Vet 1 and survives against a Vet 14. He probably has not had this much experience inside of PVP with ESO. He is a little excited to share and you forum elitist are just interested in making him feel stupid.

Good job on thinking with your head and not panicking I say. Sounded like a fun fight.

@Merlin13KAGL I thought Vet campaigns 1.6 had absolutely no battle levelling are you 100% certain? (on console it is still 1.6)

I trust you as a good source and knowledgeable but seems contradictory to my previous beliefs and what i saw when i logged in to cyrodil from ps4 myself. i can have a look tonight i guess. but other than health buff i don't notice anything more

@willymchilybily , it seems you are correct, as this does not get implemented until the latest patch.

They had raised the NPC levels a few patches ago, and I had thought they implemented the battle leveling to VR12 at the time.

While I still think they did (for non vets), it did not yet apply to VR characters, which makes the accomplishment even more impressive!

Sorry for the misinformation - the PTS and live all run together after a while sometimes!
