The Imperial City DLC is a masterpiece

After long hesitation, I decided to check out the Imperial City today.
I had many worries regarding this update and the events in the Imperial City.

But all of that was forgotten as soon as I spent my first hours in the City. I think I never had such a great gaming experience before when it comes to PvP or Elder Scrolls in general.
Everything is so huge, the Daedra threat seems real (unlike Dark anchors, they always seemed like a joke, rather than a threat), Enemy alliance players fighting Daedra in the streets and the fear, following everyone around at any given time.

I'm not going to spoil anything and my progress is rather small, but the Main Quest line in the imperial City seems extremely interesting and I can't wait to find out, what the reason behind all of that is and if the legend is true.
My biggest fear was the combat and the increased TTK (Time to kill players) and I don't know why, but I've never had such a great PvP experience in months ? Or like at all ? Combat feels much more satisfying and interesting in my opinion. I'm only playing alone or with some random people around and I really really enjoyed it so far. I'm also happy about the safe zones around Quest areas.

I think the Developers made everything right with this DLC. How the City is built, the Tel Var system, the Sewers and Districts and of course the Immersion ! I'm so happy the Daedra are a real threat. Yes, there is some adjustment needed. The amount of Tel Var stones one is loosing after being killed by another player is pretty huge in my opinion. On the other hand, this is a good reason to be vigilant at any given time and to decide 'Hm, do I want to risk it, or should I hamster my rewards' So maybe it's perfect as it is right now, we'll see.

However, I'm going to spent alot of time in the Imperial city and now excuse me, I have to put my babies to sleep. They were fighting too many Xyvkin today. Look, I took a photo of them.

I'll give it some more time.

How are you getting rich ? Tell me :D Rich is always good
Well, since this update went online, each loading screen is like twice as long than before at least. Many abilities are barely working. For example my volatile familiar will not listen anymore when I tell him to explode while I'm attacking a target. And Bolt Escape stun locks

But the game is always pretty weird after updates. So I hope this is getting better after the next patch.

The content is fine, no one said anything about the content being bad.

The real problem comes from the unwanted and unwelcome changes to things that were never really broken.

I didn't make this post to go against all the negative voices. It was my neutral opinion :)
Believe me, I'm naturally skeptical when it comes to new things and it usually takes a long time until I settle down and begin to feel well. But this time it happened instantely and I felt like sharing it ^^

Hey @Dracane, I think you played on the PTS and at that time didn't seem that enthused as your original post. So what changed exactly? Or did I just "read" you wrong about the PTS?

I think I may try soloing more in IC, maybe that'll make it more enjoyable for me. I can kill regular mobs ok, but they still do a lot of damage to me. Re. the PvP part I can't gauge how I feel about it as it's a combo of player(s) hitting me along with mobs, where the latter is more of the problem unless it's an enemy zerg.

With again I guess you mean because you've been there in the future ?
Everything looks so much cooler in TESO. Much bigger and more impressive.
So far, I can't see anything negative about this.

The Zergs are potentially annoying, but they didn't catch me so far and they haven't even tried. Because the normally are focused on killing monsters, bosses or other groups of players. You can just stand next to them and they usually ignore you and even if, they are so many interior and streets and many many corners you can hide in. It's very easy to escape imo.
Didn't have any problems so far.

@Dracane, It sounds like you are having a lot of fun. I have a question about the questing though and would like your opinion if you are willing to give it.

Are you able to take your time with the quest givers and NPCs without fear of being slaughtered? Or do you have to quickly click through everything and be paranoid about it?

I ask because during my first visit to Cyrodiil, I got attacked and killed while I was talking to an NPC and that completely turned me off to questing in a PvP zone. I would like to fully enjoy the quest without distractions and have time to read and absorb the story.

You don't have many agree's yet but I think we are the silent majority of people who are glad there is new content that is challenging, unique and designed for advanced hardcore players.

A lot of the problems are transitory and will probably be hotfixed or patched within a week or so. The rest of the complaints are really just l2p, to be completely honest.

They could have just given us a couple new vr levels, a new solo PvE zone, a dungeon, some new mounts, a new tier of crafting mats. But they actually tried to create something with real depth and detail and I think their creative work should be appreciated.

I don't know how many other MMOs have a zone like this in it. In many ways, I think what they did is quite daring and therefore it should not come as a surprise that some people can't handle it. It's probably a little out of their comfort zone.

EDIT: Wanted to tag @ZOS_BrianWheeler in this and say thank you for working so hard on the new PvP, some of us appreciate what you and the crew have done, don't listen to the haters!

The bolded part I would change. I don't think they are "silent." I don't think they are a "majority" either. Especially when you add in the "advanced hardcore players" at the end.

Yes, you can :) that's what I mentioned in my post. There are many many quest interiors in the city and you can see enemy players in it. But in those safe zones, everyone is getting the sanctuary buff and you can't use any abilities and are silenced.

So yes, you will never get bothered by other players. All quest houses I've been in so far also have a balcony, which is unreachable for players outside. So you can use this to see if everything is safe outside. it's well thought it in my opinion.
I've heared there are daily quests in the city like in the PvP villages. Haven't seen them so far so I can't confirm

Unfortunately, the part about being... "designed for advanced hardcore players", is what this patch and DLC was made specifically for.

Not that I necessarily disagree with you but I am seeing posts saying both (opposite) things. lol

I do think navigating IC very well requires a certain PvP playstyle or a large generally well-coordinated group focused on PvE.

PvP was neglected for a while in ESO, there can be no deigning that, but this patch, not having anything to do with the DLC, Really messed with a lot of people.

Not just PvE players, and not just PvP players. What I was getting at was that is, if you are not Vr14 or very close to that, you have been hit hard by the changes.
I don't want to open a can of worms here, but CPs do have a lot to do with it, but that puts this post off topic soo....

Yes the design of the IC DLC is great.
