L2P Imperial City....."Like a Boss" (Tips and Tricks)

Good post, and tips, the same tactics used in the openness of Cyrodill, for the most part do not work, you have to think more urban warfare.

If there is a big boss on you they will chase you all day, if there is a mote around jump in the water this will break the agro of the boss, that was one good tip I picked up from watching the dev's play.

No one is going to ditch a zerg and go solo. Zergs are pretty much 100% survival rate unless you come across another zerg.

People can zerg all day, killing one or two players at a time, and each person in that zerg can still get more stones than one person getting stones by themselves.

zerg = less chance of losing your stones. Even though the rate is slower, i'll take that over solo play any day.

But it's not just lower, it's non existent and frankly boring, because nothing to fight for big raids in IC. Zergs wants to fight other zergs. They want to farm big numbers, for maximum pay of. Not kill some solo'er once in a while for like 2 stones.

In was in a large raid, about 18 players for a while and totally felt like I was zerging IC hard. There's no interesting or rewarding gameplay available for teams of that size. Not enough enemies at the same spots to fight. Not much loot or stones.

Go solo or with 2-4 players and kill some mobs, you make ten times more stuff and stones in a minute.

The IC map is huge, while population caps are restricted, so full raids mostly end up running around empty maps trying to find opponents. After a while they get bored. I sort of expect IC to kill a lot of PvP guilds, since no action for full guild raids. While Cyrodiil, the map with objectives for larger raids, is going to be empty from now on.

The sewers are particularly full of narrow passages with blind curves. Players looking to outrun NPCs will often train quite a few of them behind as they race to safety. It is very inconvenient to be going one direction in a narrow tunnel only to find out the light at the end of that tunnel is 10 daedra following the guy who just went past you going the other direction. Of course, that guy wants you to distract that train so he can get away.

Trains can be safely ignored. The mobs have tunnel vision, if you do not hit any of them, they will ignore you and run after the one who aggroed them. Just be careful to not use any AOE as they run past.

Don't hit me, but I thought everybody knows nearly everything of this by them selfs allready... It is quite obvious. No?
I thought there will be real tricks. Licke hidden passages or something :(

But I appreciate your effort. Good work!

Tips for PVE players in IC.

    1) Go full health and heal/tank build with LOTS OF MOBILITY AND STEALTH. SPAM ONE AOE DAMAGE SKILL.
    2) Join a Zerg and stick to them like glue
    3) Everytime you find yourself on your own and you see a zerg coming towards you...do the following.

    Only kidding. :P

Zergs can pounce on you from out of nowhere in Cyrodiil proper. Your group of 7 or 8 thinks they are taking the flag and, boom, 40 enemy players who were in stealth on an overlook appear and steamroll you. And the resources and keeps and objectives create a natural choke point in Cyrodiil. And the expanse of Cyrodiil makes it easy to move 40 players a long distance with no one noticing them.

None of this applies in Imperial City.

It is hard for a big zerg to stay in stealth in Imperial City. It can be hard for the zerg to get to you without aggroing a dozen Daedra. There are no PvP objectives in Imperial City that create natural camping/farming sites. Can you avoid the zerg in Cyrodiil by avoiding mile gates and keeps and resource flags? Sure, but what's the point? In Imperial City, it is easier for small and medium groups to see the zerg from a distance and avoid them. And there is minimal downside to avoiding the zerg. There are plenty of mobs to kill and Tel Var stones to gain and trophies to accumulate and gear to decon around every corner. So if there is a zerg to the west of you, they will likely be visible and obvious, so you can go east. Or north. Or south. Or to another district. And a group of 8-12 will be better able to stealth and move in single file to avoid aggroing Daedra and the zerg does not even know you were there.

So I am happy to report that, at least so far, zergs are not that bad in Imperial City. They are still lethal! But it is not like Cyrodiil where the zergs are constantly standing between you and your objectives. You can just avoid the zergs and still accomplish plenty in Imperial City.

Edit: 1 exception. Zergs steamrolling through the sewers and camping the door between a faction's safe zone and the sewers. This is a choke point that is very zerg friendly. Players first experiences in Imperial City should not be walking through a door and getting insta-killed over and over again. Especially since players porting from safe zone into sewers, even in a group, will come in one at a time. So zerg can pick them off one at a time. This needs to be remedied. Maybe a sanctuary buff in the area around that door, so you can wait for your group to fully enter sewers before engaging?

Thank you, OP, for trying to remedy a bad situation. There have been a lot of threads about IC, some by those unhappy with IC, some by those unhappy that anyone would dare be unhappy with IC, many by those impressed by IC, and a couple by people who gleefully rub one's unhappiness in their faces (see: any and all references to the "carebear").

But you took it upon yourself to help people, not belittle them. Thank you. You are the hero we need. (Only halfway joking.)

Just as with DAoC, PvPers will get the gear they need and be done with IC in a couple weeks. And unless they make entrance rotate somehow, PvPers won't come in too much. Except the kitten kickers, who will live there to gank poor PvErs.

Great post op very helpful tips. Running with zergs you will get way less stones but way more trophies armor and weapons so it really depends what you want. Also it's good to have your guest as a campaign that your alliance is dominating so less enemy players. My home is for ap and the good ol pvp outside. My guest is for ic and ics farming.
