To block damage because it has lower stamina cost than dodge roll? If your stamina is too low to dodge you can still block...
It seems like, with this newest patch, ESO killed my 1h&shield DK. I'm in EU, so haven't checked it yet.
You just cant hold block down through the entire fight now. You need to choose when to block.

I can't tell you the number of times I've pressed RMB -- seen my character go into the "block stance" -- only to be knocked on their ass, or sent flying thru the air, because the lag meant I wasn't seeing the real fight. And when those hits are coming from a boss you don't have the luxury of guessing when to press block, you have to use it early and often.

This is sadly the reality of it. I support the changes on paper, but in reality the game does not generally perform well enough to support the design.
Now what does that remind me of?
Oh yeh, Cyrodiil. Intention was great, attracted a lot of people. Performance isn't up to it.
Zos needs to go hire their original coders back and get their game fixed.

I think I saw something in the patch notes about boosting the effectiveness of light armor. If that's true that skirts and sticks are going to flood the lands again. And tanks will be as rare as hen's teeth.
It seems like my question will duplicate a title, but - what are the benefits of 1h&shield in comparison to two handed weapon, after the newest patch?
As for me right now: I was making stamina(++)/magica(+) regeneration build (with the balance between the two), as at the unexpected moments I was able to block and regenerate, while losing my DPS count (1h weapon + blocking time). Now however it seems that I won't be able to regenerate, BUT I still wont have my DPS as high as two handed weapons. SHAME *ding*...
