A Post for Grunt

On behalf of Grunt I post the following:

The champion system has destroyed pvp in ESO. The power gulf between goblin grinders and everyone else can now be measured in the tens of percent. It will get wider.

Also, guild leaders are actively encouraging players to utilize exploits. This behavior is incredibly detrimental -- and the worst part is I can't even fault them for it because they are only trying to even the playing field for their players.

Imperial city is make or break.

I have 340 or so CP and I'm still relevant even after taking a month off. I don't think the CP issue is as widespread as you make out. Yes I know a good half dozen players with twice my CP or more but I only fight 2 of them on rare occasion
There may be 3 or 4 more I don't know about. The vast majority of competitive PvPers are in my CP bracket with the casuals having far less. A catch-up mechanic will help keep everyone relevant. Of all the issues in this game CPs are relatively minor.

I don't have a beef with Grunt. But most know that Senior BICEPSkin eclipsed Grunt in fame.

i dont think that champion system kill eso pvp

what is killing eso pvp?

1. lag
2. low ttk - almost no tactics, tab target enemy and instead of resource based combat spam damage abilities with cc efect and move around like bunny to be hard to target - far from realistic combat
3. exploits

You do realize they may be using Twice-Born Star, right? Not terribly likely considering, but still possible.

Like Winnie said, exploiting to acquire two is a known process but nobody has demonstrated a method to acquire more than two mundus.

I do realize that. Which is why I said I'm suspicious of them, instead of saying I'm sure they're exploiting.

What do you think causes (2)? Unlocked soft caps and the CP system. Exploits were mentioned. Lag has been ever present and doesn't even need mentioning.

CP is only a factor in a 1v1 scenario, and even then it's not insta-win. In large group battles, CPs average out for the most part, and don't give a very large advantage.

The exploits and bugs are an entirely different story. They are a much bigger problem.

The biggest problem of all, the one thing most with the most likely chance of "killing" PVP, is lag.

This was a known issue that many players pointed out to ZOS before they implemented the CP system. The fact that a time based system such as this naturally creates disparity between long term players and short term players. It is inherent to the time played (rightfully so unfortunately). There is nothing that players can do to shorten this gap. We are sorry, we pointed this out. ZOS choose to go forward with it so you will have to grind harder to close the gap. The good news is with the reduced XP required for vet ranks the many ways to increase experience gains now available should make it a faster paced unfortunately these advantages also exist for the long term players.

There is a way to get to 6 mundus at the same time (possibly all of them, but nobody had the patience to spend the time required to test that far). It requires inconceivable near-perfect timing and a friendly member of an opposite faction. As of the PTS patch where characters were transferred, it still worked (though nobody that I'm aware of has tried on the last PTS patch).

Three of us tested - actually the two others tested it, I was the witness who confirmed and submitted it in a bug report. Nobody that I'm aware of is using the exploit at the moment, though we'll probably test on live one day when really really bored. Getting the timing right is VERY VERY boring (liken it to needing about 5 minutes to get each mundus -travel time- and a 10% change of succeeding on subsequent ones where if you fail you remove all but 1), and it's painfully obvious when people exploit this, so I doubt we'll be seeing anyone using it.

I recall these discussions. One of the few things we as a playerbase got correct about 1.6.

The CP gap is not nearly as big of a problem as the culture of exploiting.

The only entity capable of doing something about it at this point is ZOS, both by fixing bugs and finally, finally start to act like the ToS also applies to the actual game instead of just the forums.
