Mob Retreat Behavior

So when I lay the smacketh down on a mob, inevitably my unmitigated awesomeness compels them to retreat. Sometimes they retreat through a door that I can't pass through, or into a wall etc. Usually I can draw them back out with a strategic movement in the opposite direction, but every once in a while they just "disappear". This isn't really a problem with trash mobs, but could be if it happened with a more important mob (e.g. with a quest completion tied to it). So I reported it a number of times already, even though I was always able to complete the quests OK.

So do you think it's worthwhile to report it each time it happens (like each individual location is a separate problem), or is it a general problem that's really been sufficiently reported already?

Fortunately for me, no quest specific enemy ever disappeared into walls or rocks. Only think reporting would be worth while if these glitches were having an impact on a quest - not being able to complete.

I don't think that's a bug. Mobs are "leashed" to their spawn area. If you pull them outside of a certain radius from where they spawn, they will retreat back to their "home." It can be deceiving, because they will chase you forever if you keep running, but the second you turn around and do even one point of damage to them, it triggers them to return to their spawn area. Pretty sure that what you described is "working as intended."

That's not what he is talking about...

When you aggro a mob some of them will move away from you to get into ranged attack position.
That's fine outside but if you're in a confined area, they can end up running backwards through walls etc. and get stuck or even disappear.

So do you think it's useful to keep reporting it, or am I just being redundant?

Does anyone ever report the ones stuck to the floor. This happens often with dual wield enemy npc. Bash them, they get stuck on the ground, slide across the ground & continue attacking.

This is merely a side affect of your amazing magical abilities. Your character is so bad-ass that it literally scares the enemies into solid rock cliff faces and floors!

Oh yes. They also can jump clean over you, twist and turn now,and all kinds of different moves I didnt remember from earlier on. I only wish my char could scurry around corners and not get hit like they do.BUT,..we DO still get hit even when there's a wall between us.

Usually ones that back up aren't stuck. If you walk out of range, they will walk back out... though they might back up into a wall again.

If you bash baddies, or uppercut etc. and fling them through scenery, they will get stuck a lot.

I've had this happen in dungeons \ doing pledges. It's very annoying, especially when it's one of the adds or extra mobs from a boss. Every time it has happened we've been able to AoE it or find some other means of killing it, but it is annoying.

This also used to be an issue for the Spider Nest world boss in Glenumbra. I believe it's now fixed (for that particular boss).

Just one of ESO's numerous features that adds variety to the outcomes of mob pulls.

I had something like this happen to me just before in The Rift.
I was doing a quest, and an enemy spawned inside the house I was reading a diary in. My sorc smacked him with crystal frags, and he fell over and slid into a wall. As I retreated, he did too, almost as if he was attached to my character by a leash, and she was dragging him around, but he was still laying prone. Wherever I moved, he followed, still damaging me, until he got back up on his feet.

It can get super-weird, because it appears their 'back up' move is 'as the crow flies' - not a path, so much as a destination.
Thus, if they are on a pier, or with their back to a prop, they slowly shuffle aalll the way to the end and aalll the way around and aaalllll the way back again - moving 25m to be 2m from where they were previously.

Makes being an archer or mage very easy. :p

I would say always give feedback/bug report when something happens that you feel shouldn't. The worst that can happen is that the devs decide it's not worth looking into, or it "works as intended". But if no one reported anything then bugs wouldn't get fixed near as often. So yeah, keep reporting

Yes, keep reporting, because a lot of what you're talking about is NOT working as intended.

Had this happened with a named boss in a public delve before. I think the instance was ruined until the next server maintenance because the boss didnt come back.

This is the kind of big problem I was worried about. Thanks for the feedback everyone, I'm going to keep reporting.
