Mind Shriven

So ever since Nightmare Courser and Frost Mare I've been expecting a horse that was lightning based and finally we get word of one from today's live... But what's up with that name? The other 2 got some decent names but this is like saying this horse has lost its mind or maybe the one purchasing it has... Come on Zenimax where's the lightning love? I got no beef with the design though.

From what I gathered, there will be mobs with similar visuals with IC... as in, there are soul-shriven who got their sould nabbed by Molag Bal, and there are mind-shriven who got their minds stolen instead. Not sure exactly how the lightning-ish figures into it all, or whoever though a horses mind worth shriving... but hey... its daedric princes, who can say? ;)

Maybe Brolog Maul feeds it minds and that makes it exude lightning, it's just common sense!

I'm afraid mind shriven is a new one for me... I've got no clue on this one! I mean, I'd guess that it's somehow related to soul shriven, but that's the best I've got.

Quoting from the Crown Store page:
The horrors that have fallen on the Imperial City affect mounts as well as mortals. With its equine psyche stolen by Daedric magic, the mind-shriven horse is a docile yet terrifying steed.

So, yes, it had its mind stolen.

/heavysigh... more of these damned things. Any word on any justification for this one existing? As I've said before I'd just be cool with them existing somewhere in-game apart from being mounts. Put it in Imperial City in an abandoned stable. Heck, make them attack us when we approach... just make the PART of the game and not just crown store fodder.

Update @11. Fantasy game gets a fantasy mount as well as mobs with the same graphic introduced in new upcoming content. Hide your children and love ones!

If you haven't seen any of the new content yet just wait a few days and you will learn all about all of the new mob types.

I've been all around IC on the PTS. I never saw these, but I was sticking to the shadows to I wouldn't get smacked around. It's possible that I missed them.

Are they running around IC or are they JUST crown-store mounts? I have expressed concern over fantasy mounts that are ONLY available as crown store offerings in the past. If it's in the crown store, it should be in the game somewhere too.

The idea that prolonged stays in Daedric realms affect and alter you is not new. That's been around since, at least Morrowind, (I can't remember if the discussion about Uriel Septim being affected by his time in Oblivion during Arena is discussed in Daggerfall or not.)

Molag Bal steals souls, and drains the life out of things... so, that tracks.

But, horses specifically? Eh... why not, really? I mean, at some levels this seams like more a Soul Cairn thing, but... *shrugs*

Yeah, I'm of two minds on the whole, "crown store purchases should unlock new mini-quests into the game." But, it'd make sense if when you bought the mount, you then had to unlock them by running a quest in Cold Harbour.

So Zenimax is using guilt eh? Well I was going to get the mount anyway but I suppose I have another reason to. We Daedric victims gotta stick together amirite?

I'd say this one isn't nearly as jarring as the frostmare and the nightmare courser, which were dropped into the game with little to no explanation. Given that there are already mind-shriven people, it's not really a leap to say the same process could happen to a horse.

It is weird that they're not around the city. There's normal horses scattered around the zone that you can actually free. I would think swapping these out with the mind shriven horse would endear people to them more, on top of providing a more solid justification for their existence as easily controllable beasts of burden. There are plenty of daedrats around the sewers, which are also being offered in the store, so I don't see what the issue is.

I find the Mind Shriven horse to be one of the more plausible "special mounts" to date. Though, I've never felt the Nightmare Courser or the Frostmare were that unusual. I bit jarring maybe, because there was no quest associated with them to justify their existence, but not unusual. I expect more weird stuff out of the Elder Scrolls than I do in, say, Dragon Age. The undead horse there felt... awkward given the general hatred of magic. In Elder Scrolls, there are so many Daedric realms and mages are engaging in weird pet projects all the time. I mean, the Frostmare is perfect for my Provisioner because it's basically just a mobile refrigerator. At least, it is with it's visuals.

I can see the Daedra doing weird things to horses or performing experiments on them to see if they'd make a worthwhile conversion into a mount.

What I'm saying is that the logical leaps I need to justify this one aren't that huge or mindbendy. Less so than most of the others. There are Mind Shriven enemy mobs in the Imperial City, anyway, and the Mind Shriven polymorph is in the Trophy Vaults. The horse is just one more of similar type.

I know it's silly, but THAT would 100% completely and totally satisfy me... to the point of there being a high probability of me purchasing one. We don't need convoluted lore or some long quest, if ZOS just put these mounts in game, I would be satisfied with their existence.

@theroyalestpythonnub18_ESO, your suggestion would be perfect for this mount.
