Ok here we go again, ZOS is giving us another fragment drop.

Well guys either up the GD rate or friggin don't use it.

I have yet to get a single fragment from my lvl 50 provisioner's (2).

That alone is just wrong.

So now we have another one coming Monday.

Well by the end of Monday there will be peeps selling them because they have so many.

Make it fair or don't do it ZOS

I do not think you get the shards from provisioner though. Or am I wrong?

I did 7 writs a day for months (only stopped winding down last week as my alts started running out of items) and got 5 total.

Sometimes the RNG just hates you.

Meanwhile I tend to be pretty on average with the perfect roe.

I would think OP talks about ambrosia recipe fragments, of which he hasn't received a single one so far (*) and looks forward to go through the same problem with the new material fragments, then from his appropriate crafters, of course.

(*) While we're on it: you do turn in those writs in Craglorn, aren't you? Despite all official confirmations I have yet to hear that someone actually, personally received a fragment from a bag less than max level.

Unfortunately I know of several peeps that have received multi frags from lower lvl char's.

Which is why it upsets me to no end to have another fragment.

I mean crap set the drop rate at 1 every 50 try's , I would at least get 1 or 2.

Just out of personal interest, lower level as in not veteran rank 1 yet, meaning from provisioning bags I to V, instead of VI? If yes, I may have to reactivate the farming for my bank chars...

Yes. I received fragment II from a provisioning bag IV (edit: This was around level 41'ish)

At least one (possibly 2) of my frags were from a Tier IV writ (handed in by my V6)

The official release notes said the drop rate would be HIGHER in higher level writs. I have only received one frag total and that was from a VI writ, but I have multiple friends who have gotten them from writs as low as Improvement II. However I've been doing 8 writs at least every other day since the update and have yet to find a second fragment. I'd like to see this new recipe and ambrosia be more accessible to newer players who need the experience most.

Speaking of low drop rates, I think that NirnCrux is also jut too low. I don't want to see the stones drop to so low they sell at 100g each, but currently I keep hearing reports that there are many botters who farm for them since normal players get frustrated and leave Upper Craglorn quickly due to the overfarming and low reward. So instead normal players prefer to buy the nirncrux and often find that some of the sellers seem fishy, or they get warnings later for having bought items from a botter/gold seller. Just an announcement of a small increase in the drop rates, and adding the Crux to nodes over all of Craglorn instead of just half and regular players would be more likely to farm for them pulling that market back away from the gold sellers.

We will see how the new materials and motifs are, but they too seem just a little TOO rare and hard based on PTS.

I also dislike luck-based systems, and would prefer skill-based awards (Dungeon completion treasure, i.e.)

Nothing to do but buy these things for heaps of gold in Guild stores or heaps of crowns in the Crown Store, because the idea is to artificially stretch out the process to keep players 'interested' longer. How's that working so far?

I got an ambrosia fragment on my level 27 master provisioner. So the fragments can come from the Tier 4 bags, at least.

Shards are not gained from provisioning, they are gained from Blacksmithing or Clothier writs.

I have never received an Ambrosia frag from anything lower than the Craglorn writs and I have been doing them daily on multiple characters.
Far too many characters to list any more.

This one can confirm this. Yes, it is possible to get fragments with a level 18 (provisioning at 50) outside of Craglorn.
While not having done any serious research on this, chance of drop might depend on number of other recipes already known. As this one only got fragments for my main provisioners (the old and the new one), but not with a casual provisioner. They all have provisioning at 50, but while two are already at VR14 (and hand in their writs in Belkarth), only those knowing tons of recipes, seem to have a reasonable chance for those fragments.

    On the topic of Nirncrux:
It's shame those are not a guaranteed or at least reasonable often end boss loot at the Nirncrux mines.
Hardly see anyone doing those mines anymore. as they are hard soloing. But those mines would be first place to look for a reliable source of that stuff, no? And just like you only get coldfire siege weapons from Dolmens in Cyrodil, why not Nirncrux from an actual Nirncrux mine, yes?

Before discussing about drop rates, could this thread decide about WHICH droprate we discuss about?
