Prison System should be added

A prison system should be added to people who are caught scamming or cheating.
1hr of ingame time should be spent in prison, you have no access to the menu except to log out. Also you cant skip time and you go down either 1 VET level or 5 normal levels.

True but I also said you lose levels. A jail sentence of ingame time would be good because they would have to have the game running so they cant play another game. A longer sentence means they cant play a game for a day or more, and it will prevent them from getting limited time bonuses. Rather than a ban, this would probably be more annoying, knowing you can still play but only in a small space. This would also be more annoying because you would have to move your character every so often to stop ur console shutting down.

I think they should be banned for at least a week and a huge message should display above their head on all characters for eternity, the message should be SCAMMER or CHEATER. Whichever they were found guilty of.

Would rather see cheaters banned. Scammers maybe could go in the prison.

I would rather prison as a system that criminals are thrown in instead of just being hunted by guards for every infraction. Make it a puzzle of sorts with randomized ways to escape. I've played another MMO with a system like this and it was awesome.

I think the concept of a jail system is great; it certainly has it's basis within the franchise. However the suggestion to use it for people who are effectively cheating I must disagree with; by using such a system for cheaters you are creating an in-game experience for them. I'd rather see it as an extension of the Justice System akin to what we see in Skyrim. As for the cheaters themselves: identify them, and ban them. Its that simple.

I like that idea actually, then they wont be able to trick any1 again. It should also be displayed over all their characters.

but getting lvls is easy so that wouldn't be a hindrance

At Veteran ranks and higher levels it would be a hinderance, and prevent you from doing main quests and going to higher level areas for a while

Cheaters should be banned, but a prison system for in-game crimes is a near-essential part of the Elder Scrolls series, and should be in ESO

Personally I would want to see the punishment fit the crime. And an in-game punishment for out-of-game infractions like cheating and spamming seems a bit off to me...
Bans? More like it, be it temporarily or permanent.
Fines? I'd see that too... fine them some of their crowns, or lock account until they have the crowns to pay the fine.

    YES!
I would looove to have an third option when the guard catches you between "...just slip me some gold" and "...what, can't pay? Dare run? Ay Keeeel Yuuu!"

For minor infractions, how about having to spend some time (not much, say, five minutes or so, enough for a nice relaxing break, not enough to be more then a minor annoyance) locked in the stocks, for passing players to make fun of and snap pictures? (throwing rotten foodstuffs optional... ;) )

For major crimes, how about a "prison island" public dungeon, with all your abilities and gear inactive, all teleport options disabled, unarmed and dressed only in prison rags, where you have two ways out - either do mindnumbilgly boring repetetive tasks (break rocks, sew jute sacks, etc.) until you earned enough "prison time" to balance your bounty, or you go and try to find the secret "jailbreak" quest... with lots of mini encounters, from the classic "bully in the food court" (and ten minutes in solitary if you fail to use persuade to talk your way out of a fight) to the obligatory "shower scene" (intimidate will help you get through that with your virtue intact!)...

The jailbreak quest should be hard to find - no quest marker, you need to figure out who to talk to from the conversations, and the option won't show up until you finish all the requirements (like convincing your fellow prisoners you are no "rat" ;) ) , which you also have to figure out from conversations,
And it ought to be harder to complete then your normal "go there, do this, go here, do that" quests... with a chance of failure depending on how many "assemple the resources to escape" miniquests you find and complete, and if you fail, it will just put you where you started on prison isle, with even more bounty to work off...

There also could be some rewards for the various "done time" achievements that could come with it. Titles for example. Or, if they get the barbershop live, prison tatoo unlocks. Possibly brandings too, like offenders were sometimes subjected to in olde times. Maybe even a costume unlock for the prison rags if you manage the jailbreak...

    It'd be sooo coool...

Was expecting post about how we should get arrested for our characters commiting crimes and they get put in prison and have to do things like:
    • Mine ore
    • Conscription
    • *Obligatory drop the soap mention*

Anyways...I think it could work. If we could please put the people who kill questers in Cyrodiil in a prison system where they end up being cannon fodder for questers...that would be nice.

well actually they could impliment that into the prison area, making it so you would have to spend atleast 45 minutes mining ore from the cave walls in order to play for 15 minutes. ect ect.

1hr of ingame time should be spent in prison, you have no access to the menu except to log out. Also you cant skip time and you go down either 1 VET level or 5 normal levels.
So they'll leave their keyboards with "W" key pressed, so their characters would move, so the server wouldn't disconnect them, so they themselves could go and drink a beer during the time. That's a brilliant idea!

Ponders a jailbreak system to break people out.

Cant see it working for exploiters.
But for infraction.... public stocks/humiliation and jailtime could be good.
    Bit of rotten fruit throwing.

    Stocks for thieves.
    Jail for murderers.
    Could work
