Ever notice how the wood stations are always separate from the other two, and placed in some out of the way area? They did not exist in the original system when the maps were designed. I'm guessing with blacksmithing already supporting an entire armor type plus most weapons, it would have been too much to cram jewelry in there. I think they would need to add something to it like armor gemming. Which would then cause the balance issues. Can't really have a crafting profession with only 2 item types
