A friend of mine's BF got banned for a week or two because of the profanity he unleashed as he died...

That's a bit heavy handed imo

Honestly there is very little I would report for, I would prefer PvP or just ignoring them.

Also I have noticed if you tell someone you are recording, going to get them banned etc, oh boy does the language get worse!

Im also amazed at the small kids, they have a more foul mouth than myself!

Me too. And then I'd go MAD WITH POWER!!!! BWA HA HA HA! mine is an evil laugh!

On topic: back when there was the instantly-respawning jute bug on PC every now and then there would be an announcement in-game that GM so-and-so was currently in the zone patrolling for bots, and to whisper to report them. Then the GM would come by to the jute nodes that had bots clustered around them, and banish them all. It was glorious.

Since then, I had one encounter with a GM when I submitted a ticket because I didn't get my dwemer spider pet like I was supposed to for completing the quest in Razak's Wheel (at the time pets were items that went in your inventory, and this quest reward sometimes was bugged). A GM whispered me in-game and got me sorted out.

Aside from those, I've never seen a GM in-game, but I haven't particularly been looking either.

It would be nice if ESO gave players a 'Player moderator' status. They would only get the option to mute players and if found abusing said powers, the player moderator would be banned from the game.

Someone said catcalling was an option I hear. Meeeooow! Also, who cares what people are doing? I always just move on. I swear people are so self righteous about things some times... especially in a game with a mature rating on it. Grow up. move on who cares if a few idiots want to run around without pants on screaming profanity or stupid remarks? to let that ruin your day...becomes your issue IMO. *shrugs* Back to calling for cats for me. *here kitty kitty!*

What the hell kind of logic is that? Women shouldn't have to lock themselves out of ANY communication channel to avoid being harassed. People should have the common decency to not harass a player just because that player is a woman. I can't even begin to understand how you think this is an acceptable answer or solution.

Same backwards bum thinking as usual. Does more to prove the OP's point than argue against it really.

I agree that there should be an active GM patrol on console.
And what would the "patrol" do, huh? Ban everyone (not likely), mute them temporarily, give them warnings? How would this solve a problem and why just temporarily, so not at all eventually? You'd like to see 90% of voice-chat users force-muted? Like "you shouldn't say that, get a 10 minute mute.". That's impossible and ridiculous to perform censorship in the worst possible form. Even though the case might seem serious and important, it's not going to happen, sorry.

Nope, don't work on Ps4 or maybe it's glitched. I tried to block players, can still hear them, and said screw it shut off area chat. It takes a lot for me to block someone but some players are straight up mental cases and need to be blocked.

As for a GM hanging out to keep chat in check, I'm ok with that. Area chat is (mostly) fine outside the starter zones, it's Daggerfall and the other "newbie" cities that need policing once in a while.

Don't even need to be full time. Just the pop-in the starter zones once in a while and listen up. Anyone over the line gets a warning, then boot.

...or they could just add text chat, with ignore functions and a chat log. I'm thinking text chat is cheaper then paying someone to baby sit.

It really comes down to if the enforcer can detect the intent of the individual(s) and act accordingly. Because you can't make one automated GM force that will detect words/tone/context and act on it with accuracy, you need a person but people also vary greatly and make mistakes!

Have you not experienced a GM system in a MMO you played before? Previous MMOs that I've played have been able to take the accused to an instanced prison and talk it over and like I said before it's up to the enforcer to detect the intent and pass judgement. Multiple offenses resulted in account suspension for a day, week, month or more, even permanently.

The reason I say active patrol is because it's a lot easier to miss something with voice chat over scrolling up text chat and taking a screenshot of the chatlog.

I have never seen a GM on the EU server and I have been playing for a year.

I also play another MMO called TERRA and that regularly has GM's stationed in one of the Major Cities for an area, keeping an eye on Zone Chat and intervening if the topic gets too offensive or racist.

I think this works really well and think it would too for ESO!

eg. Have one person in the main City for each Alliance and one in Cyrodiil. I'm sure Zeni has enough money to employ people for that!

Yes, GMs HAVE been in the game since launch. There's an old thread here documenting GMs swatting bots, among other things. I've also personally gotten help from a ghostly figure when my character got stuck between walls in a dungeon.

In most mmo's I have played if a player is dropping racial slurs or harrasing another a player via text they get warned/temp ban/perma ban. Does Eso not do something like this on pc? Im not sure why text or voice would be treated differently.

If people knew they could get banned for certain behaviours 90% of the kiddies would stop.

The starter zone chats on PC have gotten pretty bad, they're lousy with trolls giving out inaccurate information to new players, trolling new players, and sometimes just being as vulgar as possible. A few days ago in DC chat it was like dealing with bad ERP in zone with all the terrible sexual innuendo. It just went on, and on, and on. I know my bf gained something of an ingame stalker due to the fact his character was female and they refused to believe that he wasn't.

Though next time someone hits on me because my character is female, I'm just politely informing them that my character is a happily married lesbian werewolf and has no interest in either cheating or a threeway.
