There is a sound that plays, a collection of crystals that form around your hands and the icon for the skill will glow.

I used the term glow as the best I could think of, in reality (should have said this first) the icon for the skill (on pc at least) will have a shining animation on it. I would just suggest you go someplace away from other players with the skill on your bar and cast spells until it procs a few times so you get used to the feedback when its ready.

There's still a big problem with CF where you don't see the "purple hands" proc if you are casting another ability (like Mage's Wrath) rapidly and back to back.

I tried that the icon stays the same. Gues they didn't add it to the PS4 version.

^ troll question or for serious? If you are serious ..It's a trigger for something basically.
Here's what Google has to say to you about it:
"common term used primarily in game programming to refer to an event - a "process" - triggered under particular circumstances. For example, in WoW, a particular weapon (that hits many times) might have a 10% chance on each hit to apply a special effect, such as poison damage."
    ...OverTwerked & Underpaid.

The skill does not glow on XB1 and often times does not include any visual indication due to spell lag.

Eh, with that being the case and not being able to rely on visuals. I guess if the audio works for the skill? Wow.

When using hardened ward, at the same time, the "glow" around the hands is hard to notice, under certain circumstances, as both skills (hardened ward and fragments proc) have similar colors. Imo, the shield is too strong "optically".

It was a honest question and thank you for your answer. I assumed it stood for processing but in reference to say crystals I wasn't sure.

    No trollin here :)

The 'Zing!' sound is the best indicator for me.

It must be a console thing I can always see the border glow. Try setting your skill bar to "always show".

Just keep recasting shield in a quiet environment and listen. Every 3rd or so cast will proc the frags and make the sound. Once you know what to listen for, it is easy to make out even in combat.
