*Auto Turn of Area Chat

Wouldn't a turn off area chat for good option be nice? I can just turn it off, but just a setting that doesn't throw me in it when I log in. There is one worded like it might be it. But nope. Anyone else agree?

100% agree. Need a permanent on/off toggle.. Especially for those of us who are constantly switching between their 8 characters

Yes definitely. That and some times people gather in certain spots and I just can't process 10 different conversations going at once.

You can just turn down the voice volume in settings...that accomplishes not hearing anyone at all and this settings stays and is account wide.

Very true good point! But I do play a lot with friends. And it would be kinda annoying turning that back up and forth. But thanks man good idea!

    That works for area chat.

But, being able to select a default Guild Channle would be nice.
As it is we get put into the first channel of the first guild we joined.

This isn't always the one we really wish to be in.
Save Settings for "last channels used" would fix everything.
    EQUALIZE ALL PLATFORMS!
IF ONE HAS IT...ALL SHOULD HAVE IT!

Uhhhhh slash opt in. How about, when you actually want area chat, you choose it. Because it's effing ridiculous that every single time I log in I have to remove myself from it. /opt in

I agree sir! A "last channel used" or a "turn auto join off"

Agreed. A permanent off switch is a requirement in this game.

I find it funny we get an option to hide our helmet, not requiring to do it every time we enter a new zone, but can't get this for area chat.

Yea and an option to have it not auto move you to party chat when you make a group could be good as well. I mean if the changing channel was instant it wouldn't be so bad, but 12 seconds to change back!

12 SECONDS OF MY SCROLL WASTED BECAUSE THE NUB WENT THE WRONG WAY AND I COULDN'T TELL HIM!!!

Wait ... I see what your doing here ZOS.

If I group with an average of 6 different people while I am smashing out a 2 hour scroll and each time it takes me 12 seconds to get back to guild or area chat (while using the pairs method), that means I am wasting an average of 1.5 minutes of grinding.

Times that by 1 million PS4 players all doing the same thing that's like 1.5 million wasted minutes or 25,000 hours which when divided by 2 hours means those 1 million players need 12,500 scrolls.

Times 12,500 scrolls buy 1000 crown points and we get 12.5 million ... if we divide that buy the 5000 crowns pack means we will need 2,500 packs @ $39.99 each which will cost us ... $99,975! To make up the cost of changing voice channels.

    Well played ZOS, well played.

It would be nice for console players if the game would "remember" the voice chat settings from your previous session. Not keep turning on area chat and switching you to a guild channel that you don't want to join.

Turning down the voice chat is key here.

If you group up a lot, you can spend the five seconds to turn off local chat and turn up voice volume anyways.

    Nice calculation.

But, no matter what game I've played, no matter how hard I've tried, 100% grind with zero% distractions just does not happen.

For those of you suggesting to simply turn down the volume that is not the best solution. Please bear in mind that for console players voice chat itself is a known cause of in-game problems such as crashes and the like. That split second the voice chat turns on after you login could very well be the leading cause of your next crash...

    I'm am on console. PS4

While it may not be the best solution, it seems to be the only one.
OR you could just have a PS4 party chat going so it'll block everyone out in game.

And I've never encountered such a ridiculous "bug" to have me crash.

Don't log in or out in town?
    :)

It's no secret that the voice chat system is unstable to the point that sometimes it is unavailable entirely. It has been said by countless people that having voice chat on has aided in random crashes and while I personally cannot truly verify this it would not surprise me.

As of the Imperial City dlc the game remembers if I was in the area chat! And if I was not in it when I logged out. I'm not in it when I log in! Thanks You!!!!!
