Noob in need of help! Can't sell anything for gold!

Alright, so I'm new to ESO, only got a few hours under my belt. I created a Breton Dragonknight and I'm lvl 4 right now. I'm in Daggerfall currently and every time I go to sell items to a merchant I get ZERO gold. I have like 4 greatswords I want to sell but when I go to a weapon merchant to sell them it has 0 next to their sell price. Do I need to be a higher level or something or is this a glitch? Any help is appreciated and thanks in advanced!

    Are these "white" items you just find laying around town? Those are worthless. You need to get the items to drop from killing enemies out in the wild. Those items will have value. You can also steal "green" and "blue" items around town and sell them for gold, but only to fences in the outlaw hideouts, not normal merchants.

    The 0 value items are pretty much only useful as starter weapons or to deconstruct and get experience for them.

    Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.

    Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
    House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
    Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

    The other thing to remember in general - you learn more from deconstructing than you get money for selling. Or at least it seems that way to me.

    On the other hand while ingredients aren't worth much, you can make and sell the food (at least for a little) to any merchant, thus gaining experience and money

    ^^ definitely this. When I'm low on funds I'll whip up a bunch of food and while the dishes sell for between 2-4 gold it does certainly add up. Spend a little time at the cooking fire, then BANG - a few k gold.
