Removing Former Emperor Buffs OR Creating Former Players?

    Oh JHC.

A subtle threat of quitting a game and a streamer whom is arrogant enough to believe that you can make or break how the game is run in the future. I heard of a dirp like that and his name was Angry Joe, all nonsense and purely entertainment.

Emperor does not take time, it never did. It takes the opening of a campaign and zerging Emp ring in a timely fashion before any opposition logs on.

I can say that from personal experience because I'm the guy who did it on Bloodthorn for the first 3 Emperors crowned from early access/launch.
Emperor should dictate just a fancy title and who gets into Imperial City when the patch drops and nothing more. prestige should be placed on the ranks, not something to menial and meaningless which in comparison to rank 50 only means buffs. Being rank 50 is a lot more impressive.

Good riddance to getting rid of former emp, its been a long time coming.
Emperor does not take time? I would like for you to elaborate on this particular comment.

Yes ! take out former emp buffs, but give similar passives to high ranks ! Example 2% extra regen when reaching rank 30, and then the 5% ultimate cost decrease upon reaching rank 35 and add more of that stuff for rank 40, 41, 42 etc

I took an entire week off work, and ap farmed my arse off to get that skill line.

It already got nurfed, Its just a 2% stat buff

Why? Why would it need to be removed? even a super stacked character would only end up with what ... 800 extra to their maxed stat? and a pittance to their other stats? thats less then a single enchant.

Dont go back on your word, Getting emp is a huge struggle, even on the pc where you have guilds "flipping" emps its still a struggle and the person your pushing needs to take several days off of real life in order to achieve it.

How is 2% "too powerful" ?

    answer: Its not

It's "too powerful" in the sense that it's incentive enough for emp trading, destroying what may otherwise be a healthy campaign.
It's "too powerful" in the sense that you justified taking off time in real life in order to achieve it.
It's "too powerful" in the sense that you're taking the time to make a post about keeping those 2% stats.

    Hello?

Exactly! If this change makes it so that people don't have to become emperor just to have that buff and then pass it around to each other, it will be a good change. Emperor should go to those who have the time and will to actually reign, rather than those who want a 5% buff to then abdicate for the next in line to get his buffs, and I think this change will make it more so.

The way I see it, most of the campaign and emperor changes is all about removing the toxic behaviors some people have such as emp trading, capping the whole map at 4am, etc. It won't fix pvp on its own but it could be good for sure.

    Dear development,

Please don't remove the emperor skill line from pvp. I haven't had a chance to obtain it yet and it gives me something to strive for in PvP (which I usually don't play). I don't care about people farming it or whatever. Once they get it, they won't continue to do so. However if that's the reason for removing it, then I say don't, find another way to get people to stop like putting a time limit on it or being able to get it only once per cycle or on able to obtain it in the highest veteran rank campaign or put it in imperial city somehow. But just because isn't really good enough to me as a player plus it's not fair to all of those who have put in countless hours playing to achieve this only for you to say "sorry but because some people are trying to farm this, we are going to take it away from you. Don't be sad, at least you get your skill points back..". Because of the emperor element pvp is fun and if you take that away, it won't be as fun regardless of what other content you put. Honestly, I could careless about imperial city and it's monsters or whatever. To me, armor, weapons, and skill lines are what's important.

Emperor stays. You just won't have a stat benefit from it after you are deposed.
If emperor is what makes PvP fun for you, then I somehow doubt you have been playing a lot on emp trading campaigns in the past...

Force weapon swap to have priority over EVERYTHING. Close enough.
Make stamina builds even with magicka builds.
    Disable abilities while holding block.
Give us a REASON to do dungeons more than once.
Remove PVP AoE CAP. It is ruining Cyrodiil.
Fix/Remove Forward Camps. They are ruining Cyrodiil.
Impenetrability needs to REDUCE CRIT DAMAGE. Not negate entire builds.

Yeah I recently got my first emp on xb1. I have been the only AD to get it on thornblade and it took a lot of effort. At least I still have the title.. Shame people trade emp, ruins the game.

There were lots of signs something like this will eventually happen, but that didn´t stop Emp traders. Some of the "funniest" examples was a guild promoting giving you an emperorship for 500 k. Well it did happen but I think many of the formers emperors aren´t here to see it. Can´t say they are missed though.

Have a couple different characters with emperor, stayed awake for weeks and worked really hard to get it each time. As much as I will miss the ultimate cost reduction, etc., I agree with this.

Campaigns are more fun when those at the top of the leaderboard seek to get emperor and hold it as long as they can, using the abilities to help their faction, rather than trading the title around so everyone in their guild can get former emperor. I've seen some egregious cases where two factions make agreements and flip emperor every 15 minutes, even chain pulling enemies up on top of the keep walls to make it go faster.

At this stage of the game, the former emperor title does not inspire respect anymore. It is a lot more common than say, Master Angler.

The populations are much lower in Cyrodiil compared to the campaigns at launch and I believe after Imperial City drops most players will not care about the keeps for a while, so this is a good time to make this change.

The only ones complaining about emperor buffs are the people who never got emperor. Seriously the almost non existent buffs are laughable. Whiners always ruin everything.. if you're going to take away emperor buffs then at least make former emperor armor or something.

If you suck at the game it's your fault not anyone else's. Rather than complain about very minor emperor buffs how about you try to achieve it.

I've got emp, but really couldn't care less if I lose or keep the 2% buffs. They're almost meaningless in the grand scheme of things, and don't make or break a build.
  • robertispretty
I'm also a former Emperor can't believe people are complaining about this. It's like saying we should take away undaunted passives and meteor because people were too lazy to farm lore books. Getting former emperor buffs was like receiving a skittle after I stayed up 2 days spent 300k alliance points repairing walls and managing groups. Maybe we deserve the 2% buff..

Considering the whole Emperor system was poorly thought out and led to"make me Emperor farming" for the latent buffs, it should have gone months ago.
Personally I think ZoS has not gone far enough. Emperor should go as well. Totally pointless PVP game mechanic and leads to ill will within Guilds and distorts PVP as it makes AP farming the really only point to PVP. Many Guilds also farm Emperor so that as many of their members as possible become Emperor to give them an advantage. A failed Emperor should hardly expect to 'retire' and have bonuses as per the existing sytem.

If the Emperor system remains there should be a punishment for failing at Emperor as well. Something over looked by ZoS and it would have stopped Emperor farming in its tracks. It would made Emperor something most did not want and only the truly 'dedicated' would desire. In a real life situation any Emperor who escaped failing with their life wwould have been a'lucky' one. Getting a bonus for failing is a joke.

Going, going gone and good riddance to the buffs.

I think the emp buffs need to be scaled back a bit, but only so much so. Emp in the right can can be terrifying, and I've seen emp groups hold back lower pop servers for months at a time.
