Rolling during a fight

Real newbie should no by now question, but don't. Forgive me.
Rolling during a fight, is this stamina dependent as to how many times you can roll? I am assuming that this may be the case but not sure. The reason I ask is I can roll all over the map so to speak, enter a battle one roll and that's it, I then just end up jumping around, which leaves me vulnerable to attacks.
