Ive served and have major hearing loss due to multiple IED attacks. So the voice chat really doesnt work for me and others with similar disabilities.
Thanks for your service.
Playing on console s may be tough if you require text.
Text is simply not as popular with the console crowd as it is with the keyboard cowboys of the PC..
I would like to see you stay here on console, but through the favoring of a keyboard as an input device on PC, more games accommodate.
On console, mics and controllers are the mass market, and companies lose revenue when trying to implement a peripheral for a niche audience.
I really don't know why console game developers don't bother more with niche peripheral programing.
I mean everything was better with kinect, right? What all those smash hits the PlayStation move had?
Then their was that much game that came with a 200 *** controller, everyone bought that thing, huh?
I know many people play on PC so much they cant think of a keyboard in the same bargain bin as a kinect, but if a console product doesn't hit the mass market, I wouldn't hold out hope for kinect support.
Cheers.
Sorry buddy, gonna have to disagree. it's not that tough to plug in a usb keyboard. I played ffxiv for over a year
It's much easier to just talk to others on console.
Trying to add in another window and also require another peripherial isn't a logical approach when nothing is wrong with what exists.
No it's not. I've been gaming on Pc and console for 20 years now. Have you even played ESO? It doesn't seem like it. Have you ever been in a populated area and tried to communicate? Have you ever been in a full 500 man guild with 20 people all carrying on separate conversations? Text chat is far superior hands down. The only time voice chat is necessary is in a group dungeon. By the way, isn't a mic a peripheral?
A peripheral is something not boxed in.
Something requiring an extra or discretionary purchase.
So no. All consoles shipped with mics, not keyboards.
Lol, Microsoft tried to force an extra peripheral down the mass markets throat in the form of the kinect and Microsoft paid the price.
A keyboard would not be extra if you were playing on a PC.

And you paid a sub because, you were a tiny slice of the overall gaming market. You paid more because the mass market didn't what your taste.
What??? What are you even talking about?
I paid more for what? A keyboard? Lol
You do realize that a gaming mic costs MORE than a keyboard right?
Plug in a usb keyboard. Type to chat. End this unnecessary problem.
Sorry, auto correct really ended that strangely. I corrected the original.
You paid more in the form of a subscription.
Niche gaming style = less people to charge = the company has to charge the niche group more for the same service.
Text chat inches this game closer to that unsalable niche game style that destiny tried so hard to distance itself from.

You do know that eso was a sub to play when it first came out right? They started losing players so they had to go buy to play, and maybe for other reasons as well. I think you have your facts wrong there. Company's go free to play when they really start losing people, they don't charge people. I wish this game was still sub to play. Text chat would help improve the games communication and would bring in more people. Yes to text chat.

All consoles are shipped with mics? Sorry that's incorrect. Ps4 is shipped with the console and one controller. I had to buy a mic for $25 and that was one of the cheaper ones. A usb keyboard is about 10-15 bucks but I didn't need to buy one since I just unplugged it from my pc.
GuyNamedSean wrote: »Voice chat is lovely but anyone who's been through Riften on Xbox knows that it's overwhelming with twenty to thirty people crammed in one place shouting over each other. Adding text chat alongside the voice chat would make recruiting for groups, guilds, and trading far easier. Look at how Warframe's text chat works. It's a lovely and simple format. You can introduce that on console and so much of the communication on the game will be so much easier.

No it isnt. Ive played the Xbox version. You can not use guild voice chat as a zone chat. It is limited to guild members only, and only a couple of members at that, since as nobody uses it anyway. Now THAT seems to be a complete waste, as if I wanted to get hold of a certain guild member I could message him. No voice chat is even needed for that.NewBlacksmurf wrote: »You're desiring more...that's fine but what exists isn't a problem or issue.
Again, the problem isnt with what exists, but with what doesnt. I dont desire more, but only to be able to do the same things PC version can. Right now, there is no way to buy/sell/chat with zone. No way to request help at a dolmen or world boss. LFG is almost a total fail and more than a few have given up on it. There is a lack of ability to monitor more than one guild chat, while group chatting, waiting for a reponse on private chat, and watching zone at the same time.
Were not talking about a pretty mount or sparkly costume that one platform has and the other doesnt, I believe these issues I speak of are important parts of the game and directly affect how it is played and played out. And these things werent just replaced with something else, but removed completely, leaving console people with a sort of cut up 'eso-lite' version of the game.
I just have to wonder, if this to you is 'desiring more', than why arent you and others desiring more as well? Why settle for less, unless you really do buy into that PC master race stuff? Bad enough they get much faster loading and far better graphics, they also should get a full better version of the game for the same price as well? lol

Unless you've actually got the data to back them up that is.

I'm pretty sure I could arrange for you to be adding a significant number of new subscriptions....
The fact that zos is taking so long to even say anything about this issue has me worried. If they are so slow in adding such a needed and basic feature such as text chat, it leads me to think that there are going to be many more horribke decisions made in future patches.
I have very little faith in this game right now, I cancled my sub yesterday and redownloaded dcuo, I am going to play a mmo where I can actually communicate and group up with people in.
You almost had me zos, i might give eso another go if you ever decide to add some of the much needed features in this game.

you don't need to use those you know. those numbers are 100% optional. you actually have to go out of your way to get them. there are even add-ons to make it even more minimalistic.mrskinskull wrote: »Kleptobrainiac wrote: »I would just like to let Zeni know that for every hyberbolic statement of cancelation posted, I personally pledge to add another subscription to ensure that a text chat window will never clutter the fantasticly minimal UI that keeps me playing this game.

I love the minimal ui , I love how it looks like a sleeker sharper version of ESO. I watch PC live stream footage and its a nightmare of numbers and gawdy text boxes.
Great post.
Text chat will likely come in the form of an app or not at all from the sounds of it.

The UI is going to be updated to feature more information. It was covered a few ESO lives ago. Specifically damage numbers and effect trackers were mentioned.
