PVP and lag zergs

Is there anything I can do to reduce the impact of this?
My PC is fine and I get a steady 30 to 50 fps in those zergs but my ping is another matter!
I have BT infinity so not much I can do to upgrade my line, is there anything in game that will help matters?
Large scale PVP just seems so pointless when everyone is mashing buttons and nothing is happening, how can you possibly be effective in that situation?
