Why are there no selections available for me at the woodworking station?

Hi I'm becoming a woodworker and have trained, I've deconstructed a few items, made a bow and am now trying to undertake the woodworking writ quest. I've collected lots of wood and resin but when I go to the woodworking station there is nothing for me to make! Weapons or apparel. Can anyone please help me to understand why this is and what I need to do? I'd be very grateful! Thank you!

Have you put in points into the woodworking skill line? Do you have the necessary amount of mats to make said items?
If the number under the wood is red it means you don't have enough refined wood for that item (and remember, items need a racial stone and possibly a trait stone to craft)

And remeber, items need a racial stone and possibly a trait stone to craft

No trait necessary for the Woodworker Writ. (Or Blacksmith or Clothier while we're at it.)

Make sure that the crafting page is not filtered by "have knowledge" or "have materials" filters. These can hide options and make it look like nothing can be done. I usually filter out the stuff I do not know how to make. I leave the materials unfiltered so that missing material is red.

If lots of wood, or any raw material, has been collected, it needs to be refined in order to be used. You can only use sanded woods for woodworking crafting.

You will need racial style stones in addition to the refined material. If you have none, you will not be able to craft anything. You will need to collect the proper stones for whatever racial crafting styles the character knows. If you have the filters set to turn off stuff that you do not have the knowledge to craft, that will include racial styles. You can then use the crafting page to determine what stones you need. These will be in red.

Thanks guys this is all really helpful! I will try again tomorrow, but to answer your questions no, I haven't put any skill points in and hadn't even thought of it! I have some currently so will do that, thank you. I have tried checking and unchecking the 'have knowledge' etc boxes but will try again. I DO have lots of wood and stones - but possibly not the correct ones.... Could this be the reason that all the option boxes for weapons etc are blank? (They're not just red for unavailable, they're blank!)

I'm very grateful you all took the time to help me, thank you :)

Update: there are selections there now! :). They're all red and I can't make any but at least I have something to aim for now :). I have a ton of wood so I'm guessing I need some racial stones? That's my next hunt..

It may also be the type of wood too , for example if you are just starting out you won't be able to use mahogany or nightwood. No need to hunt for style stones the carpenter sells them .

You don't need to add any skill points into woodworking in order to craft maple weapons/shields for the writs, as everyone starts with one point in all the equipment skills.

What you do need is sanded maple, which is refined from raw maple, and racial style stones for the styles your character knows. If they are Bosmer, e.g., they will know their own racial style, which uses Bone. If they've learned the Nord style from using a Nord motif book, e.g., then they will also know the Nord style, which uses corundum.
